Chapter 353:
“Hey, Dad,” I greeted, hugging my father, who was sitting in his favorite spot, before turning to hug my mom.
“Hey, Mom.”
“Hi, baby,” she responded, snuggling closer and kissing my forehead tenderly.
I couldn’t help but melt under her touch.
“We called you here to have a little discussion before you leave tomorrow. You can think it over as you travel back to meet your mates,” she began, her face taking on a serious expression.
My heartbeat quickened as I braced myself for the worst but prayed for the best. I hoped my happiness wouldn’t be short-lived again.
“You see, we’re not getting any younger, and you are our only child. We were thinking that if something were to happen to us and we’re no longer here, you should take over the pack alongside your mate and rule it. With the triplets by your side, no one would dare attack your pack.”
I released the breath I didn’t realize I was holding as relief flooded over me. It was great news.
“That’s what you have been discussing?” I asked, looking at my father, who nodded in agreement with what my mother had said.
“We need you to take good care of this pack as the future Queen and Luna. I know you would make us proud. Is that a promise, sweetheart?” Her hands lifted my cheeks as she gazed deeply into my eyes.
Without thinking much, I smiled and nodded my head in agreement. “I promise you.”
“I trust you, honey. I shall inform my Beta right away,” he said before leaving my mother and me alone in the room, excitement evident in his voice.

My eyes were fixed on the door for a moment before they drifted into space, as if lost in thought. A deep sadness and uncertainty crept into my heart.
“What is wrong, honey? Are you thinking about what we just said?” my mother asked gently.
“No, Mom. It’s just Damon,” I started, my face falling with sadness as his image flashed across my mind. “I still find it hard to forgive him even after he apologized. I don’t think I can forgive him, let alone forget it, because he hurt me badly.”
My voice cracked, and I was on the verge of tears. Without uttering any judgment, my mother drew me close and lightly patted my shoulder.
“Everyone makes mistakes, Aurora. No one knows everything. Damon has his strengths and weaknesses too. Sometimes, in marriage, no matter what your partner does, you have to forgive as long as he has acknowledged it, apologized, and vowed never to repeat it.”
“Take a deep breath and let go. Heal, and focus on his positive sides more than the negative ones. I don’t think he’s a bad person. He’s just impatient, and he needs you. You are more patient, and you can help him work through it.”
Her words echoed in my mind, slowly changing my perspective, and the sadness I had been feeling began to fade away.
“Don’t hate him. Just forgive him. You’ll be fine. Don’t ignore him or give him the silent treatment. It’s unhealthy for your relationship.”
I shut my eyes, inhaling deeply. Calmness and peace gradually replaced the anger, bitterness, hurt, and loneliness I had been holding onto.
“Thank you, Mom. I feel so much better. I love you.”
