Sparks raced through our veins, making us yearn for each other, but I wasn’t going to give in that easily. I would make him work for it.

It felt like a tug-of-war. Staying with him was making me lose my sanity, yet I fought to stay focused.

I didn’t want him to see the huge effect he had on me. “I’ll be in my room,” I said, turning to excuse myself, feeling a warmth spread through me.

But my legs grew strangely heavy.

“Is that so? Even your body says otherwise.” Damon smirked before pulling me closer to him, his hand resting on my waist.

“That’s not true…” I stammered, trying to defend myself, but words failed me.

“You are my mate, and I can smell your arousal.” His raspy voice resonated in my mind, making me press my thighs together in an attempt to control myself.

I could feel my face flush in embarrassment, and I quickly looked away from him.

“You’re just making things up,” I defended, holding my ground.

“If that’s the case, then let me check,” he said in a serious tone, his eyes trailing down to where I had pressed my thighs together.

“You won’t be doing that, naughty boy,” I tapped him lightly on his shoulder before stepping back. “Thank you,” I muttered, grabbing his shirt with my fist and planting a quick kiss on his lips.

Before he could return the kiss, I pulled away, smiling as I dashed toward my room in excitement.

I couldn’t risk staying another minute with him, afraid my body would betray me.

I didn’t want him to know how much effect he already had on me.

Without wasting any time, I sprang into action, packing my luggage.

Adrenaline coursed through me, keeping me energized despite the weight of everything.

I couldn’t get over Damon’s promise.

Finally, I was going to see my parents!

A smile curled on my lips as I pictured their faces in my mind. I hoped they were doing fine without me.

As I wheeled my suitcase against the wall, fear consumed me. My grip on the handle tightened.

What if they couldn’t bear it? What if Dad’s injury never healed, and he… gave up the ghost?

What if they didn’t want to see me?

Would they even love me and treat me like their own?

Crippled by fear, I slumped on the bed, lowering my head to my palm as sadness overwhelmed me. I didn’t know how long I had been staring into space, but the sensation of hands on my shoulder made me jerk in surprise. Relief flooded through me when I saw Alex.

I flashed a weak smile, standing up as I didn’t want to burden her with my worries. My eyes dropped to the white apron tied around her waist, then traced it up to her tired yet excited eyes.

“Are you okay?” she asked, gently pulling me back to the bed. She sat beside me, holding my hands in hers. The warmth of her touch soothed my restless heart.

“Why is there a travel bag here? What are you up to?” she asked, narrowing her eyes in curiosity.

A demonial destiny the alpha triples – Sneak Peek Aurora I let out a weary sigh as my eyes met the enormous clock on the wall. It was past 1 a.m. Yesterday’s chores had been endless. Despite starting early, long before anyone else was awake, I had worked nonstop until the next day, with no breaks. Nathalia, the Alpha’s daughter, had been pleased to see me buried in work. She rejected anyone’s attempt to assist me and punished them severely—just like she always did. Her cruelty kept people away from me, their fear of her harsh punishments outweighing any sympathy they might have had.
