Chapter 329:
“You’ll raise your blood pressure if you don’t stay calm,” the figure said before stepping closer to Ray, who instinctively crawled backwards until his back hit the wall. He was helpless now.
Gulping loudly, Ray gripped the box in his hands, holding it tightly as if preparing to use it for self-defense. “You don’t need that.”
In one swift motion, the box was ripped from his hands and smashed to the floor, shattering instantly.
Ray was now at the mercy of the powerful man and his bodyguards. “Please, don’t hurt me,” he begged, shielding his face with his hands, terrified to look at the man.
Even with his eyes closed, Ray could sense the man surveying the house with a disdainful look.
“You reek of wretchedness. Everything here,” he hissed, a frown deepening on his hardened face. His legs kicked at anything in his path, as if disgusted by the very environment. “You should do better.”
“I’m trying my best,” Ray muttered, feeling defeat settle in his gut, though fear still consumed him.
“Your best is clearly trash! Work for me, and I will transform your status. You don’t have to work for Rosa anymore.”
“Why are you telling me this?” Ray stammered, still trying to process the situation.
“Because if you don’t work for me, I’ll kill you faster than you can take your next breath. You have no choice. But if you do, I’ll make you the happiest man. Just name your price.”
“Who are you?” Ray asked, his voice trembling.
“My name is Silas, your new boss!” he declared with an air of finality.
Ray stared at Silas, his eyes filled with fear. He knew he couldn’t object—his life would be over if he did.

After a long moment of contemplation, he reluctantly forced a weak smile, signaling that he was in.
“Fine. What’s the price?” he asked, rising to his feet and taking long strides across the room, carefully avoiding Silas’ intense glare.
“Whatever you want,” Silas answered sharply. “I am willing to give you anything you desire if you do this one thing for me… perfectly,” he added, his voice low and deliberate, the word “perfectly” dripping with emphasis. His baritone voice was enough to make Ray’s nerves tighten.
Ray struggled to mask his fear, swallowing the bitter taste that had risen in his throat. His hands trembled as he shoved them into his pockets.
Was this a trap? Was he for real?
Too many questions swirled in Ray’s mind, but he was too scared to ask, knowing that Silas’ face alone screamed danger.
“I don’t believe this,” Ray muttered weakly, shaking his head slowly and avoiding Silas’ raised brow.
Without even glancing at him, Ray could tell that Silas’ expression had darkened, anger simmering beneath the surface. Despite their limited interactions, Ray had learned quickly the dos and don’ts of dealing with this man.
“Do you know what happens to those who doubt me?” Silas’ voice was calm yet deadly, his words hanging in the air like a warning. He stroked his mustache, his face shadowed by a sinister expression.
