I was about to rise from the chair when a knock echoed against my door. My brows furrowed in confusion as I wondered who it could be.
It was definitely not Aurora, nor my brothers—their familiar scent would have given them away.
The knock sounded again, reverberating through my office. My eyes flicked to the 3D wall clock.
Tilting my head, I tried to guess who stood behind the door.

“Who the fuck is Alex?” I questioned, rising to my feet, ready to pounce on any intruder.
“It’s Alex, your housekeeper,” her frail voice filled my ears, making me heave a sigh of relief.
My forehead creased in confusion as my instincts warned me that her sudden visit had a deeper purpose.
“Enter,” I ordered, my Alpha tone leaving no room for hesitation.
My eyes locked onto the door as I watched her small figure turn the doorknob gently before pushing it open. Like a frightened mouse, she slipped inside, pressing her back against the door, her head bowed in submission.
“Your Majesty,” she whispered, lowering her head as she gulped in fear, my oppressive aura washing over her.
“What brings you here, Alex?” I asked, my gaze fixated on her like a hawk stalking its prey. I didn’t blink, my face an unreadable mask, concealing the unease creeping inside me.
“I… I can’t keep this inside anymore. My heart is weak. I… I—” Her voice broke into sobs as she collapsed to her knees, weeping uncontrollably.
Confusion gripped me as I watched her unravel before me.
“What is all this, Alex?” I asked, my voice laced with warning.
Stricken with fear, she hastily wiped her tears before taking a shaky breath.
