Chapter 302:
Before Rue could ease my confusion, a loud noise filled the air, causing the ground to vibrate beneath me.
Fear paralyzed my body, and I fell to the ground.
Lifting my eyes, I saw the three wolves approaching majestically, growling. Their deadly glares made my heart race.
“Please, don’t hurt me,” I muttered, crawling backward until my back hit a tree.
Tears began to stain my cheeks as dark thoughts flooded my mind. What if they lost control of their wolves and hurt me, considering they hadn’t shifted in a while?
I let out a deafening scream as one of the wolves walked towards me, tilting his head as if sniffing me.
A heavy wind blew in my direction, making my hair fly into the air as the wolves howled at the full moon in unison.
I quickly covered my ears as the thunderous howls echoed through the sky, sending goosebumps across my skin.
At that moment, the moon glowed brightly, followed by a mighty gust of wind that swept through us before settling on Ivy’s grave.
Panic gripped me as I stared at the strange occurrence in confusion.
I had never witnessed anything like this before.
“What is happening, Rue?” I asked through the mind-link, fear consuming me and leaving me unable to speak.
“We have been accepted by her spirit,” she confirmed before going silent in my head.

Whose spirit? Why was Rue speaking so strangely?
“Who are you talking about?” I asked, trying to reach Rue through the link.
“You’ll know soon, dear.”
“But I’m scared,” I confessed, curling up into a ball as if trying to protect myself from the giant wolves.
“Don’t be scared, Aurora. Mates won’t hurt you.” Her soothing voice filled my mind, but it wasn’t enough to calm my fear. “They are so beautiful,” she added, urging me to steal a glance.
I swallowed the bile rising in my throat as I peeked at their towering figures. They made me painfully aware of my own small size.
A clearer view of the wolves flooded my vision, and I couldn’t help but marvel.
The air was thick with the scent of rain, honey, and musk, and it overwhelmed my senses, sending strange tingles throughout my body.
My eyes studied the giant wolves that stood frozen before me, as if examining me.
The three wolves were massive, but each had its own distinct size and color.
The middle wolf was the largest and most imposing. It wore a ruthless expression, and its hazel eyes seemed smokier than the others. Covered in thick midnight-black fur, it looked dangerous, and I knew I wouldn’t want to cross it.
The first wolf wasn’t as large as the middle one, but it was bigger than the last. Its appearance wasn’t as intimidating as the middle wolf’s, but I could sense that it was still dangerous. Unlike the middle wolf, this one’s hazel eyes locked onto mine, as if inviting me to run my hand over its soft brown fur.
The last wolf appeared less menacing. Though still very large, it was the smallest of the three.
