Chapter 297:
“I don’t understand what you’re talking about. We shared something,” he argued, his voice defensive.
“We shared nothing.”
Her words cut through the air like a blade.
“You took advantage of me because I was naive and open-hearted. Your short presence in my life brought me nothing but pain.”
Her hand instinctively moved to her stomach, rubbing over the flat space where life had once grown.
But there was nothing.
No kicks.
No flutters.
No baby.
No matter how much time had passed, she still hadn’t recovered from the loss.
“Look, you’re taking this too far—”
“No,” she snapped, her voice thick with emotion. “You were the one who took it too far when you lied in bed with me, pretending to be my lover!”
Her voice cracked as she half-screamed, her emotions threatening to break free.
Tears burned behind her eyes, but she refused to let them fall.
“I’m sorry,” Ray muttered, shifting uncomfortably. “I didn’t expect things to turn out this way. It’s not what you think. We could still be friends, like we used to be. Forget the bad thoughts you have about me because I’m a good guy.”

His voice softened as he stepped closer, wiping away a tear that had escaped down her cheek.
Aurora stiffened, disgust curling in her stomach.

“You’ve got it all wrong. I care about you, Aurora,” he pleaded, desperation seeping into his voice. “I’m sorry things didn’t turn out the way they should have.”
“Trust me, Aurora. We can fix this.”
His whisper was soft, almost persuasive, as he leaned in, his breath warm against her ear.
He reached for her hands, enclosing them in his own.
“Do you trust me?”
Aurora
The moment I heard Ray’s voice, I sprang out of the store where I had been hiding all day, waiting for the perfect opportunity to catch him.
Since our last encounter, I had decided to keep my distance and conduct my investigation without his knowledge. I refused to be fooled a second time.
Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes and mentally prepared myself for the dangerous mission ahead. As quietly as a mouse, I turned the doorknob, lifting it gently to avoid making a sound before slowly pushing the door open.
My breath caught in my chest, my heart pounding relentlessly with anticipation.
“Relax, Aurora, you got this.” Alex’s encouraging words echoed in my mind, straightening my resolve.
