Chapter 274:
I stole a glance at him, trying to discern any hint of his feelings. My brows furrowed in curiosity as I noticed his eyes were fixed on the door before they finally rested on me.
Was he expecting someone?
Straining my ears, I could hear the rapid beating of his heart. It didn’t take long for me to realize that he was excited to see someone. But who?
Could it be Aurora? It had to be her.
Jealousy surged through me at the thought that they might be more concerned about her than me.
If only they knew what that woman was capable of.
“Where is Ivy? Where is our mate?”

I froze in horror, sending them a death glare.
It felt like the air in the room had seized, making it impossible for me to breathe.
Chills ran down my spine as Ivy’s face kept replaying in my mind.
I was almost gasping for breath, overwhelmed by shock.
I couldn’t believe my ears.
Ivy?
Why would they ask about Ivy?
It didn’t take long before memories started flooding my mind, bringing back the scars that marred my heart.

I could feel it again. My heart was breaking all over again. It hurt like hell.
I couldn’t breathe; his words drained the oxygen from my lungs, almost suffocating me.
Tears welled in my eyes as a sharp pain stabbed at my chest. It was hell.
It felt like someone was rubbing salt into an old wound that had just been reopened.
I hurriedly blinked back the tears and buried my hands in my pockets to hide my distress. I sucked in a deep breath, trying to control my emotions before forcing my eyes to meet theirs.
“What?” I managed to ask when I finally found my voice.
A part of me cringed at the cracked sound of it.
I hated that my voice betrayed my feelings.
“Ivy, where is she? She should have been here. Didn’t you tell her you were coming to see me? Poor girl, she’s probably worried sick after hearing we were in a coma. Please, tell her we’re fine and can’t wait to grace her bed,” Devin said, a sneer twisting his face.
Rather than a smile, sadness spread across my expression.
Dax’s odd smile widened as he lifted one side of his lips mischievously.
“Don’t tell me you’ve been doing things with her behind our backs?” he asked, laughing playfully while tapping Devin on the shoulder.
After sensing the shift in my mood, Devin’s eyes wouldn’t stop boring into me.
