Chapter 260:
“My King! Stop!”
Alarmed, Jasper screamed before rushing toward me and knocking my hand away from Rosa’s throat.
Rosa collapsed to the floor immediately, her small hands wrapped around her neck as she massaged it, trying to catch her breath.
My breath came in short pants as I tried to regain control.
What the hell just happened?
Surprised, I stared at my hands, questioning what had come over me. What, in the name of the Moon goddess, made me hate Rosa so much in that moment?
“My King, what is wrong with you?” Jasper asked, his voice laced with concern, his eyes filled with questions.
I turned away from him, hardening my gaze.
Jasper’s eyes were filled with so many questions that I didn’t have answers for.
If it weren’t for Rosa and Aurora’s presence, his questions would’ve bombarded me endlessly.
But I didn’t care what he thought of me.
I didn’t care if Rosa saw me as a monster.
She had no right to touch Aurora.
“Do not let that repeat itself, whether in my presence or absence,” I issued a stern warning.
Rosa’s dull eyes regained some life, and her cracked voice returned.

With one sharp look from me, she immediately moved away from Aurora, who was still pinned against the wall.
“I wasn’t hurting her, my King,” Rosa began.
My eyes widened in surprise when she suddenly dropped to her knees. Her voice trembled with tears.
“I swear by the Moon goddess, I would never hurt Aurora,” she continued, crying before collapsing at my feet.
Her hair spread out on the floor as her hands clung to my shoes. Confusion hit me like a ton of bricks, and I raised an eyebrow.
Wasn’t she the one I had seen choking Aurora against the wall?
I could have sworn my eyes hadn’t deceived me.
“You would have killed her if I hadn’t intervened.”
“No, my King. She tried choking me, that’s why I retaliated—”
“What?”
I turned my gaze to Aurora, who looked lost in a sea of confusion.
She shot Rosa a surprised glare, but Rosa was too caught up in her crying to notice.
All the anger I had felt toward Rosa vanished, replaced by an overwhelming sense of stupidity.
What had come over me?
