Chapter 232:
“As much as we don’t want to remind you of your past, we deserve to know.”
I sighed, allowing sadness to settle on my face. “Damon impregnated me,” I said, stopping briefly as I looked away to avoid their gaze.
“That’s it?” Devin and Dax asked, their eyes searching for more.
“That’s it,” I repeated, clenching my jaw.
It was only a matter of time before I broke down in tears.
“That’s why you ended things with him and fled?” Dax asked, piecing together what little information I had given.
“I didn’t flee; he sent me out of the castle.”
I shut my eyes, taking a deep breath. It felt like I could still see Damon’s hostile eyes when he sent me away. I had never seen him so red with rage. His eyes burned with fury, and he looked like he was about to lash out at me.
“Why? He didn’t love you?”
“I don’t know if he did, but things were going well between us.”
“I don’t understand. If things were working out, why did he send you away?”
“I was framed!” I screamed, my voice trembling as I was on the verge of breaking down. “He accused me of cheating on him and lied about my child’s paternity.”
“Did you try explaining?”
“I didn’t. There was no point. He wouldn’t listen. The moment he confirmed it, he sent me out that night.”
“That must be devastating for you.” Devin’s sympathetic eyes met mine as he patted my shoulder. “You are safe here with us. We won’t chase you out,” they assured.

“Are you twins?” I asked.
“Yes,” they chorused.
“You have a striking resemblance to Damon. I’m certain that you’re his brothers and that you’re triplets. I wish I could take you to him, but that place will only bring me more pain,” I said, looking away as a stab of pain hit me. I was torn between two thoughts.
Should I take them to meet Damon, or stay with them and enjoy their company forever? Help me, moon goddess!
Silas’ words echoed in Rosa’s ears, filling her with curiosity. It was like a bell ringing repeatedly. How could he say she knew nothing? The urge to ask was overwhelming, but she knew better than to dwell on the topic. The last thing she wanted was to upset Silas’ mood. The night was good, and she wanted to keep it that way.
She would worry about his words later, when she had time to herself. But as much as she tried to push them out of her mind, they stuck with her, filling her with worry, doubt, and anxiety.
She wanted to believe him. She wanted to trust that he had her best interests at heart. But his body language betrayed him. She noticed how he avoided her gaze, how his fists were clenched and hidden in the pockets of his garment. He seemed to be trying to regulate his heartbeat while speaking.
The bastard was hiding something. But Rosa was too scared to confront him. She decided to watch him carefully from a distance, hoping to uncover his hidden agenda. Her trust in him was slowly beginning to fade.
“Cheer up, Rosa. You won!” he announced, grinning sheepishly. A small smile curled up on Rosa’s lips as she tried to push aside the negative thoughts about Silas potentially betraying her. The idea of him stabbing her in the back was a difficult pill to swallow. He was her uncle, and he had promised her late parents that he would take care of her. There was no way he meant harm to her.
