Chapter 201:
Surprise flooded me as I lifted my eyes to meet Dax’s worried expression.
How was this possible?
Was Dax my mate?
A scoff escaped my throat at the thought.
Maybe my emotions were starting to get the best of me.
Dax could never be my mate.
“Aurora?” he called again, louder this time as he gently shook me.
“I’m fine,” I said, forcing myself to look away from his compelling gaze.
Relief washed over his face.
“You fucking scared me. I was in the middle of a workout and—”
The rest of his words faded into the background as my eyes trailed from behind his ear to the curve of his neck.
I swallowed hard, my gaze lingering on his Adam’s apple.
The way it moved rhythmically whenever he spoke sent a wave of heat through me.
My fingers itched to touch it… to grab it.
And my tongue longed to taste it, to lick and suck on it.
Slowly, my gaze traced a straight line from his Adam’s apple down to his nipples and rigid chest.
I found myself leaning in, drawn to him in admiration.

I didn’t take my eyes off the droplets of sweat trailing down his chest, following their descent to his belly button before they fell onto the tiled floor.
His toned abs were the next to captivate me.
He was built like a god, and I couldn’t wait to be buried beneath him.
The urge to hug him tightly and breathe in his musky scent engulfed me, but I forced myself to stay composed. The feelings I had for them grew stronger each day. I hoped I didn’t lose myself in them, especially since they didn’t seem to feel the same way about me.
The firm grip Dax had on me made me melt effortlessly in his arms. While Dax’s body was enough to make me lose focus, Devin’s physique could drive me mad. Dax had lean muscles, while Devin’s muscles were more prominent—he looked like a gym instructor or even a bodybuilder.
No!
My eyes squeezed shut as Damon’s image flashed in my mind. I had promised myself not to think about him or anything related to him. I hated him. He had taken my baby from me.
If he hadn’t driven me out of the castle, I wouldn’t have lost my son.
But, I wouldn’t have met Dax and Devin either.
A flood of emotions surged through me, and I didn’t know whether to feel happy or sad about Damon’s banishment. At least, I wasn’t his property anymore. I was as free as a bird. In the painful three weeks that followed, Damon’s departure, Dax and Devin had been the best thing to happen to me.
“Is everything alright?” Devin’s voice boomed from the hallway, startling me and making me pull away from Dax’s embrace. Devin quickly entered the kitchen, catching a glimpse of our closeness before casting a questioning look at Dax. Dax wore a serious expression, letting out a heavy sigh.
