Chapter 181:
I felt so stupid, so used. I had let Aurora’s innocence and naivety blind me. Of course, she would want revenge for being separated from her family.
“Turns out I was right after all,” her voice broke my thoughts, pulling my gaze toward her.
I shoved my hands deep into the pockets of my leather jacket, clenching my fists so tightly that they drew blood, channeling all my frustration into it.
Despite seeing the evidence, I still struggled to swallow the bitter truth.
“Aurora is cheating, and she’s planning to run away with Ray tomorrow. She knows you trust her, and she knows she’s bound to you forever. But by the time you return from your meeting tomorrow, she’ll be gone,” Rosa said, emphasizing every word.
Her words struck me like a physical blow, causing me to stagger.
It felt like a slap to the face, pain radiating through me.
Why, Aurora?
Though the evidence was convincing, I didn’t want to believe her. I refused to believe that my sweet, innocent Aurora was a trickster and a cheat.
I was so stupid for letting her use me all along.
“Get yourself together, Damon,” I told myself, composing myself before Rosa, who was holding the picture in front of my face in a way that prevented me from properly seeing the images on it.
“Get that thing out of my face!” I slapped the picture away, allowing it to drop to the ground.
“I know this is hard for you to bear, my King,” Rosa said, her tone soft yet firm, “but you need to know that she is just using you to pass the time. She’s a hypocrite. Before I was locked in the dungeon, I always overheard her talking with a guard about her plans. She would do anything for freedom. There was a time I caught her seducing a guard because she wanted to run away from the castle. She misses her parents, and she would do anything to return to them.”

“But she is now my property. Doesn’t she get it? She belongs to me!” I gritted out in frustration.
“Her heart belongs to Ray. She is in love with him.”
I shot a suspicious look at Rosa, creasing my brows. “How did you get all this information?”
“I will do anything to protect you, my King,” she blurted, flashing a brief, almost remorseful smile at me. “If it hurts you, then I won’t hesitate to let you know.”
“This doesn’t make sense to me,” I shook my head, trying to process everything she had just said. “She gives me her body, and she feels something for me.”
“It’s all a lie. She was just pleasing you so that you wouldn’t suspect a thing. The breeder’s announcement ruined her plans. She was supposed to elope before you told her she would become your breeder because she was already pregnant.”
“The news about becoming your breeder was discomforting for her, so she decided to stay a little longer, then flee when you least suspected it.” Her voice dropped as she pouted her lips. “But my heart belongs to you. You, my King, own my body and soul. I would never betray you. I’m sorry I deceived you, but I did it to protect your image. I wanted to silence the mockers. I was tired of hearing that you were a king without an heir. I was desperate, and I didn’t think it through. As for planning to get rid of Aurora, I did that out of desperation too. She wanted to hurt you badly, and I wanted to eliminate her before she did something stupid. I don’t want to see you hurt. She is a snake, a pretender. She’s the villain, not me. Please, my King, I beg for your forgiveness,” she cried, dropping to the ground and wrapping her hands around my foot.
I was frozen for a few seconds. I didn’t know how to react to the news.
