Chapter 162:
No!
He wasn’t going to sit back and watch his life unravel before his eyes.
If he was going down, she would go down with him. He would make sure of it.
A gasp escaped her lips as she stared at Silas, her eyes wide in shock, as though she had seen a ghost.
Fear and shame gripped her, making her keep her gaze fixed to the floor.
Silas’ terrifying presence alone was enough to send her trembling.
An uncomfortable silence hung in the air between them as they both tried to process what to say next.
“Un… Uncle…” she stammered, clearing her throat.
“Save it!” He silenced her sharply, raising his hand to stop any more words from escaping her. His voice boomed through the room, effectively shutting Rosa’s mouth.
“Not a word from you, idiot!” he added, his anger palpable.
Rage radiated from him like a thick cloud of smoke.
“This just shows how incompetent you are. I should have replaced you a long time ago, but you kept assuring me you had everything under control. Little did I know, you can’t even control your own stupidity!”
Rosa’s eyes squeezed shut as his words sank in, biting deep into her, causing her pain.
But she knew better than to defend herself.
Her teeth clenched in regret as memories flashed in her mind.

Everything had been perfect. She had everything under control, including the Alpha.
For the first time, she had been a step ahead of everyone, ready to strike at the perfect moment.
But then the stupid doctor had spilled all her secrets, ruining everything she had worked for.
Now, all her efforts were in ruins.
The pain in Rosa’s heart doubled, like someone had repeatedly stabbed her.
The thought of all her hard work wasted made it feel like she could barely breathe.
Now that she was ruined, she hoped the doctor was happy. Her chances of survival were slim.
The only certainty for her was death. Deep down, she knew Damon was only keeping her alive until Aurora gave birth so she could see his heir before she was terminated.
Her life was over.
But she hated how Silas kept reminding her of her failed mission.
Everyone makes mistakes. He shouldn’t keep rubbing it in her face.
“I thought you were smart, but it turns out even the dumbest person in the castle is smarter than you,” he lashed out angrily, adding salt to her already open wound. He was ready to continue his tirade, but he feared that his rage would lead him to do something stupid.
“You were given a simple task, but you failed miserably. I didn’t train you to be a fool. You’re better off dead than alive. In death, you’d be useless. Alive, you’re even more useless!” He emphasized each word, his fury evident.
Rosa felt her heart bleed at his harsh words. They struck her deeply, squeezing her chest and leaving a dull ache that she couldn’t shake.
