Chapter 131:
Silence filled the room as we both lost ourselves in thought. From the look on her face, she was too exhausted to clean up.
I didn’t mind wiping away her dried blood.
Desperate to hear her voice, I kissed her lips.
My body responded instantly, sparks rushing through me as my desire flared.
She didn’t protest; instead, she let me explore every part of her. But I pulled away, afraid to give in completely, as my body ached with need.
The divine taste of her left me craving more.
I could never get enough of her.
Her captivating eyes held me in a trance, and I couldn’t tear my gaze away.
Her rare silver-gray eyes were mesmerizing.
“Ivy taught me how to cook,” I blurted out, breaking the silence without thinking.
I didn’t know why I said it, but the words slipped out uncontrollably. I couldn’t stop myself from spilling them.
I didn’t want to be apart from her.
“What?” she asked, adjusting herself into a more comfortable position.
“You asked who taught me how to cook last week,” I replied, cupping her smooth cheeks gently.
“Yeah, right?” she said, her expression shifting before looking away.
The smile faded from her face as she tried to process my words.
Her brows furrowed in concern, and the corners of her mouth dropped.

“Who is Ivy?” she asked, her tone sharp.
I could hear the rapid thumping of her heart, her breath shaky.
Jealousy oozed from her like a cloud of smoke.
“My mate,” I answered, the words hitting her hard.
She pulled away from my grasp, her body stiffening, letting out a gasp of disappointment.
“You have a… mate?” she asked, sitting up and pulling the duvet over her naked form. “You could have told me,” she added, her voice trembling, blinking back tears.
“I had a mate,” I corrected, staring off into space, my mind clouded with memories.
“I don’t understand,” she said, her brows knitting together, forming a V on her forehead. “Did you two get separated?”
Pain shot through my heart as images of Ivy’s lifeless body filled my thoughts. I wanted to stop right there, but the words continued to pour out.
Talking to her felt like a weight was being lifted off my chest, little by little.
What was wrong with me?
Why did I feel so comfortable around her?
Was it because she listened to me without judging?
Her curious silver eyes locked onto mine, waiting for more explanation.
