Chapter 252:
Manfred froze.
“Do you regret it?”
Charlotte did not respond to his words, but continued to struggle. Manfred suddenly said, “I’ll take you away.”
“What did you say?”
“I’ll take you away from here, away from B-Town.”
Charlotte, “… Are you crazy, how can you say such things, I’m your sister-in-law!”
“You’re not my real sister-in-law? You think that’s an excuse to reject me?” Manfred grabbed her wrist, pulled her upward and looked at her seriously.
“You think I don’t know anything about you and him? He forced you to sign a contract and leave after six months, didn’t he?”
Hearing that, Charlotte looked at him in disbelief. It was a secret between her and Kennedy. No one knew about it besides Nathan and Annie, as well as Diana.
How did he know?
“You wonder why I know?” Manfred looked grim and his voice was depressed, “Think about it and you’ll understand. I know about your divorce, because Kennedy doesn’t like you and wants to divorce you as soon as possible.”
“Stop it.” Charlotte interrupted him. She bit her lower lip and said, “Manfred, I’ve already told you that even if Kennedy doesn’t like me, I won’t like you. I will find a way to pay you back the three hundred thousand I owe him as soon as possible. Please don’t say that again. I’ll pretend nothing happened. I have to go.” With that, Charlotte turned to leave directly.
Manfred spurred and dragged her straight back. He held the back of her neck, leaned down and bent to kiss her lips.
Seeing his handsome face approaching, Charlotte panicked and panicked. She turned her face before his lips touched hers, so Manfred kissed her on the cheek.
Manfred did not give up, but wanted to conquer her by his escape. He pinched her chin and wanted to kiss her again.
Charlotte avoided him as she screamed. It was a street with people coming and going, but no one approached.
After all, they stood talking for a long time. Besides, Manfred was tall, handsome, gentlemanly looking. No one would believe he was going to force himself on a woman.
“Manfred!”
When he kissed the corner of her lips, Charlotte got angry and slapped him across the face.
She used all her strength to slap his face and vent her anger with this slap. Manfred was in pain, his face bowed.
Soon a five-finger mark appeared on his handsome face.
“Did you hit me?” The corner of Manfred’s lip had a drop of blood on it. He looked at Charlotte with sadness in his eyes. Then he sketched a wry smile, “Do you really hate me?”
Seeing his mouth bleeding, Charlotte became depressed.
“I didn’t mean to. You went too far.”
“Did I go too far?” Manfred burst out laughing, “Honestly I treat you well, but you dislike me. What about Kennedy? He treats you badly, but you still like him. Charlotte, are you stupid?”
“None of your business!” Charlotte shook his hand. “If you do this again, I’ll be mad at you.”
With that, she climbed into high heels and ran off, leaving Manfred alone in situ staring at her back.
He had been watching her, until she disappeared around the street corner. A girl stood beside him and looked at him shyly, “Are you all right?”
Then she handed him a tissue and looked at the corner of his mouth. “The corner of your mouth is still bleeding.”
Manfred froze, but didn’t take the tissue. He gently wiped the corner of his lip with his finger and licked it. It was salty.
The bitterness in his eyes grew heavier. He looked weak, but he hit it hard.
“Sir…here’s the handkerchief.” Again, the girl plucked up her courage and handed him the handkerchief.
Manfred normally looked kind, but his heart was cold. He glanced at the girl and said with obvious strangeness, “No, thank you.”
The girl suddenly blushed. She felt embarrassed by the rejection. Clutching the handkerchief in her hand, she stammered, “I’m sorry. It’s just that I’m worried about you. Since you don’t need it, I have to go.”
Manfred didn’t answer her, but gave her a slight glance and withdrew his gaze, then turned to the direction Charlotte had just taken.
He wondered if she could get home safely, after all, she wasn’t in a good mood today. He had to keep an eye on her.
Seeing that he didn’t look back, the girl’s eyes turned red, “You still want to look for her?”
Manfred frowned and stopped. “What else do you want?”
“No, I just want to remind her… she doesn’t seem to like you. She’ll probably hate you if you look for her again.”
Hearing that, Manfred was annoyed and after a moment scoffed, “Little girl, this is my business. It has nothing to do with you.”
The girl didn’t dare speak again. She glared at Manfred and then ran off.
Manfred walked away indifferent.
Charlotte did not return home, because she did not want to see Manfred now.
So she went back to her mother’s house to see how things were going.
As soon as she saw her, Belinda rushed to her and hugged her saying,
“Charlotte, you’re back. I’m coming to get you.”
Charlotte frowned, “What’s the matter, Mom?”
Belinda hugged her and cried, “It’s all my fault! It’s all my fault.”
Charlotte had to look at Bruno. Bruno said angrily, “She did it!”.
With that, he went into his room. Charlotte stayed in situ. The family atmosphere was very bad. Belinda was crying hugging her and didn’t know what had happened.
“What’s wrong?”
“Charlotte, it’s my fault… we don’t have much money, so I did a little business with others, but the other party ran away with all the money.”
Charlotte was surprised, “They ran away? How much was lost?”
Belinda lamented, “All of our family’s money is gone, and the money I borrowed too.”
Charlotte’s countenance changed and she told herself to calm down. “Have you called the police?”
