Chapter 905:
Herbert nodded.
“I know you care about this.”
“Herbert…”
I called his name softly.
“You’re so nice!”
“It’s just a small matter, dear,” he said with a smile.
“But there’s one thing I have to explain. My parents have no objections because their own problems haven’t been resolved yet.”
“Oh? What problems do they have?” I asked, intrigued.
Herbert sighed before replying, “My father and mother had a huge argument. It escalated to the point where it might lead to a divorce.”
Hearing this, I was taken aback.
“Is it that serious?”
“In fact, their relationship has been problematic for a long time. Now, they’re just maintaining a facade of a marriage.”
Sitting on the bed, I hesitated for a moment and asked, “Then if your parents really get divorced, who are you going to follow?”
Hearing this, Herbert couldn’t help but laugh.
“I’m already an adult, okay? I’m not a child. I don’t have to choose one. Besides, they have their own lives and friends. They won’t live with me.”
“That’s right.”
I got up and hugged him.
“You still have me. I will always be by your side.”
Although Herbert didn’t say anything, I could sense that he was in a bad mood.
Having experienced my parents’ divorce, I understood Herbert’s feelings very well.
I had already grown up and become independent, but he still had some attachment to his family and his parents.
No matter how old we were, we always hoped our family would remain whole.
But we couldn’t interfere with our parents’ lives. They always had their own decisions.
When their relationship ruptured, or when they separated for any reason, we couldn’t change anything. We could only watch as our once complete home fell apart.
I hugged him and tried to console him.
“You’re not alone. You still have me. We’re husband and wife, a family, and comrades-in-arms. We’ll face all the ups and downs together.”
The next moment, Herbert leaned over, holding the back of my head with one hand, and sealed my mouth with his.
The kiss was full of passion. I was initially shocked, but then I responded with equal enthusiasm. However, as soon as I started to reciprocate, he suddenly let go of me. I stared at him in confusion, only to see his lips curl up into a smile. His deep eyes, like electric currents, sparkled. I heard him say, “I’ll take you to a place tomorrow. I want to give you a surprise.”
Bella’s POV:
Herbert mysteriously told me that he wanted to take me to a place and that it was a surprise. He seemed genuinely excited about it. I was curious, but he refused to reveal where we were going.
