Chapter 882:
Daniel Morgan, once a proud and confident man, now looked utterly defeated. Connie, who had once carried herself like a wealthy socialite, now wore a depressed expression that clashed with her luxurious attire.
As I watched in confusion, Linda spoke first.
“I didn’t expect K.G. Software Company to fall so quickly. Ever since Daniel Morgan married that woman, it’s as if he’s been cursed. Everything has gone wrong.”
“Will K.G. Software Company really go bankrupt this time?” I asked, frowning.
Linda nodded.
“It hasn’t entered bankruptcy proceedings yet, but it’s only a matter of time. K.G. Software Company was founded by Daniel and his first wife. Of course, he doesn’t want to let it go. But what’s the use of reluctance? You see, he came to this party today hoping to secure investments for his company. But no one is willing to give him money. It’s said that when he started his business, it was his wife’s courage and ability that helped him build K.G. Software Company. After her death, he married that terrible woman and drove his own son away. I heard Connie made several high-risk investments, and his son took a significant portion of the company’s funds. Now, the funding chain has collapsed.”
I glanced once more at the dejected expressions on Daniel Morgan and Connie’s faces.
If any man were to be tainted by this woman, Connie, it was clear that their family would truly fall apart. They were undeniably unfortunate.
Not long ago, Connie was so arrogant, but now, she had fallen from grace sooner than expected. She was selfish and hypocritical, and it wasn’t surprising that things had turned out the way they had.
Linda added, “It’s clear that Daniel Morgan’s downfall came at the hands of a woman. The business world, particularly the big players, look down on him and his current wife. His first wife was tough, but she was also capable and knew how to distinguish right from wrong. That’s why she earned the respect of many men in the business world. After she passed, Daniel remarried, but that led to many people refusing to cooperate with him.”
She continued, “It’s said that William has started his own business. Many of the major clients he now has were once his mother’s friends. Those clients, who had once worked with William’s mother, are now helping him. William is particular about business ethics, and he values relationships. His mother’s old friends have wanted to help out an old friend’s son. From what I hear, William’s new company is doing quite well.”
I glanced up and noticed a man and a woman entering the banquet hall. The man was fashionable and confident, while the woman was tall and beautiful.
“Isn’t that William and his new girlfriend?” I remarked.
Linda, following my gaze, smiled.
“What a coincidence. They’re here!”
Seeing William and his girlfriend, I thought to myself, “Even though I didn’t spot Emma, she will surely show up at this event. And with Connie here, this is going to be quite a spectacle.”
“Hey, have you heard the gossip?” Linda leaned in and lowered her voice.
