Chapter 865:
“What was that? Something seems to have broken,” I said, standing up to leave.
However, Herbert reached out and grabbed my wrist.
I felt a little anxious.
“Don’t cause trouble. Let me go see what’s happening outside, okay? If you want to cause trouble… you’ll have to wait until we get home.”
Herbert hesitated but finally let go of my wrist.
I immediately got up and tidied my clothes. When I was about to open the door, Herbert grabbed my wrist.
I looked back at him.
“What’s the matter?” I asked.
Herbert’s eyes were filled with desire.
“Don’t forget what you promised me just now.”
“What did I promise you?” I frowned, confused. I couldn’t recall any promises. He lowered his head, touched my fingernails gently, and said slowly, “Didn’t you say that I can do whatever I want when we get home?”
Hearing that, I pushed him away.
“That depends on my mood.”
With that, I quickly opened the door and walked out.
As soon as I stepped out of the office, I saw Connor standing in the center of the room. Joey was squatting in front of him with a wet towel in her hand, helping him wipe the stain on his pants. Amy was busy cleaning up the broken coffee cup with a broom.
“What’s going on?” I asked, confused.
Joey looked up, her face full of regret.
“It was me. I accidentally smashed the coffee cup, and the coffee spilled on Connor’s pants.”
Connor, looking up, said, “It’s not her fault. I didn’t catch the cup properly.”
Seeing the two of them taking responsibility, I said, “It’s just a cup. It’s not a big deal. Your pants will just need to go to the laundry.”
“I’m sorry,” Joey said, still blaming herself.
Connor’s pants looked expensive, but he shrugged it off.
“It’s nothing. Joey, don’t worry about it. I’ll just go change into another pair.”
Joey still seemed concerned.
“How are you going to go out like this? Let me wipe it off for you again.”
Connor stepped back, refusing.
“No need, thank you.”
Joey didn’t insist, but stood up and stepped back.
At that moment, Herbert came out of my office. Connor immediately stepped forward, awaiting his orders. Herbert glanced at Connor’s pants but didn’t comment. Instead, he simply said, “Let’s go.”
“Yes,” Connor replied, nodding.
