Chapter 785:
If he didn’t want to marry me again, I would move out with Lucky. I couldn’t continue living with him under these unclear terms. But if I did that, it would seem like I was forcing him into marriage. What I wanted was for him to want to marry me—freely, without any pressure.
I was stuck in a dilemma. What should I do?
The next morning, Joey and I went to the Business Office in A City to pick up my business license.
The staff at the counter informed me, “Miss, since you’re registered in a special industry, you’ll need to go to New York to complete the filing process.”
I took the license and asked, “Do I have to go to New York?”
“Yes,” the staff member nodded.
With no other option, I followed the process they outlined and left the business bureau with Joey.
“Why is it so troublesome that we have to go to New York for this?” Joey complained.
“We’re in a special industry. We have to follow the instructions. Otherwise, we can’t start the business,” I explained.
“Then I’ll go. You still have two children to take care of,” Joey offered.
“I’m the legal representative. I’d better go. I’ll be back in two days. I won’t be worried because I have Miranda and Gary at home to look after Lucas and Lucky,” I said with a smile.
“Well, I can relax for two days,” Joey replied.
I glanced at her and said, “In the next two days, you need to shop for office supplies. Remember to compare the prices and write everything down. When I get back, we’ll buy everything together. Do you understand?”
“Ah? That’s so troublesome.”
Joey pouted in response.
I chuckled and said, “Of course, we need to save some money in the beginning. Being a boss is tiring. When we worked for others, we just had to focus on our own tasks. But now that we’ve started our own business, we need to pay attention to everything. It seems that being a boss isn’t as easy as it looks.”
“So, I’d better work for you,” Joey said with a flattering smile.
“We reap what we sow,” I replied, shaking my head.
The next morning, I boarded the train to New York.
On the train, I thought about calling Herbert but hesitated. Should I call him or not? After all, he was at his parents’ house, and they might not welcome me. It seemed better to finish my business first before considering other things. My purpose for coming to New York was only to complete the filing process. After more than half a day of work, I finally walked out of the registration hall just as others were finishing up. Everything was finally done.
Looking up at the beautiful sky, I realized that I might not catch the train back to A City tonight, so I decided to stay in New York for the night.
After a moment of hesitation, I thought, If Herbert knew I was suddenly here, he would be surprised. Maybe we lacked romance, so I suddenly wanted to give him a surprise tonight. After thinking it over, I dialed Herbert’s number.
“Hello?”
