Chapter 780:
“I’m fine,” I said quickly, not wanting to talk about the argument with Herbert. I didn’t want it to affect the team.
Bella’s POV:
At that moment, the waiter brought me a steak. Joey quickly signaled for the waiter to place the steak in front of me.
“If you keep talking nonsense, you’ll keep losing money,” I threatened.
“No, no, tell me quickly, what should I do? I swear I won’t tease you anymore today!” Joey said, extending her left hand.
“Sell them off tomorrow, okay?” I said firmly.
“Is it impossible for the price to increase? Maybe if I sell them at a slightly higher price, I won’t lose money,” Joey said anxiously.
I shook my head.
“If you don’t sell them all tomorrow, I’m afraid they’ll just keep falling lower,” I explained.
After thinking for a moment, Joey sighed and said, “Okay, okay, I’ll sell them all tomorrow. Ugh, it feels awful to lose money.”
After that, I chatted with Joey for a while. That evening, I returned home around six o’clock. When I walked into the living room, I saw Herbert playing with Lucas and Lucky. Seeing how well he was getting along with the children, my feelings were very mixed.
Standing there, I didn’t know whether I should walk over to them or just pretend I hadn’t seen him and go straight upstairs.
At that moment, Herbert lowered his head and said something to Lucas, and then Lucas ran over to me.
“Mommy, Daddy asked you to play with us,” Lucas said, looking up at me.
I hesitated for a moment, then Lucas grabbed my hand and dragged me toward Herbert and Lucky.
“Lucas, what… game… are we playing?” I asked.
Lucky spoke slowly, still not very confident with her words.
“Let’s play with the handkerchief!” Lucas suggested.
He picked up a handkerchief and began running in circles around Herbert, me, and Lucky.
“Throw the handkerchief, throw the handkerchief…”
I sat across from Herbert, with Lucky in between us. Lucky was singing the song joyfully while clapping her little hands. I felt a little uncomfortable. I had just fought with Herbert yesterday, and he hadn’t apologized. I didn’t want to talk to him first.
Besides, I didn’t want to give up on my business plan. I wanted to stick to my own ideas.
So, I avoided looking directly at Herbert. I kept my attention on Lucky and Lucas, clapping my hands and singing along with them.
“Let’s play hide and seek, Lucky!”
After playing with the handkerchief, Lucas suddenly shouted. Lucky stood up excitedly and ran to catch up with him. Lucas teased her, urging her to chase after him.
“Bella?”
After a long pause, I heard Herbert’s deep, pleasant voice.
I quickly looked at the children, then turned to face him. I met his gaze and saw the guilt in his eyes. I pursed my lips, not sure what to say.
