Chapter 766:
That was my way of agreeing to stay for dinner, despite my reservations. I took the food in my hands and walked into the kitchen.
While I was picking vegetables, I overheard the conversation between my mother and Betty.
“Mom, I’m leaving,” Betty said as she picked up her branded bag from the coffee table. Hearing this, my mother frowned and replied, “Anne’s gone to an international kindergarten. There’s nothing else for you to do here.”
“I have an appointment with a friend to go to the beauty salon,” Betty said as she headed for the door.
“Besides, I’ve been on a diet lately, so I’m skipping dinner.”
“You two sisters finally ran into each other today. Why don’t you stay and keep me company?” my mother murmured.
Betty glanced toward the kitchen and gave a disdainful smile.
“Mom, it’s fine. Bella is here to keep you company. I’ll come another day. You know I’m not good with words. I’m afraid I’ll make Bella unhappy and upset you again.”
“What are you talking about?” my mother frowned, confused. Before leaving, Betty added, “Mom, think about what I told you. I’ll wait for your reply.”
Hearing this, my mother’s face darkened.
“Mom, I’m leaving!” Betty said as she walked out.
When the door closed behind her, I threw the food I was holding into the bag, feeling frustrated. I had been so happy to see my mother and make dumplings for her, but I hadn’t expected to run into Betty again. She had become so arrogant and vulgar, both inside and out.
I walked out of the kitchen and looked at my mother, asking, “Mom, what did Betty ask you to consider?”
Bella’s POV:
My mother was silent, not saying anything at first. I asked, “Mom, if you don’t want to tell me, it’s okay.”
I was trying to respect her wishes, understanding that she didn’t have to share everything with me. But then my mother spoke, saying, “Betty asked me to remarry your father.”
I was stunned!
Once I regained my composure, I asked anxiously, “Mom, did you promise Betty you’d consider this?”
Betty had once hated Ryan more than I did; she could barely stand to see him. Now she was trying to convince my mother to marry him again.
My mother sighed helplessly.
“How could I do that? I’m happy with my life now. I don’t want to find another man, and I won’t get back with Ryan.”
Hearing this, I felt relieved.
“Then why don’t you refuse her outright?”
At that, my mother sighed again.
“Ryan’s living in Betty’s house now, and he’s probably been putting all kinds of dirty ideas in her head. It’s likely making her relationship with Hank worse. I don’t want Ryan to stay in Betty’s house anymore, but he has nowhere else to go.”
