Chapter 736:
Connor nodded.
“Why are we going to the mall? I’m going to be late for work,” I said anxiously.
Herbert looked at me, his gaze soft, and said, “Didn’t you say the silk scarf was just ‘normal’? I’ll go with you to buy something you’ll be truly satisfied with.”
“I’m very satisfied with this one. You don’t have to buy another one,” I quickly replied, grabbing his arm.
“Really? Why do I feel like you’re lying?” Herbert teased, a playful glint in his eyes.
I had no choice but to glance down at the scarf around my neck and say, “This is the best scarf I’ve ever worn in my life. Thank you.”
Despite his pride, I still wanted to go back to work. However, Herbert wasn’t letting me off that easily. He tilted his head and said, “I want to see some practical actions.”
Without thinking, I leaned in close, wrapped my arms around Herbert, and kissed him passionately.
Herbert smiled in satisfaction.
“That’s more like it.”
Afterward, he raised his head and spoke to Connor, who was in the front seat.
“Connor, there’s no need to go to the mall.”
“Yes, sir,” Connor nodded, and the car turned, heading toward Stephen Firm’s office building.
Seeing the direction the car was going, I felt a sense of relief. I cursed Herbert softly under my breath, then rested my head on his shoulder. I closed my eyes, content, and asked softly, “Did you ask the secretary to buy the scarf?”
“I bought it myself,” Herbert replied.
I chuckled.
“No wonder.”
“What do you mean?” Herbert frowned slightly, confused.
“Good taste,” I said, looking up at him with a smile.
“That’s more like it,” he said with a grin. He then adjusted me, gently putting my head back on his shoulder.
I obediently hugged his arm again and closed my eyes. Herbert held me close, and I did the same. We snuggled together, comfortable in each other’s presence. Ten minutes later, I bid him farewell and headed to the company.
As I walked into the office, Linia stared at the scarf around my neck and exclaimed loudly, “Bella, your scarf is so beautiful!”
“Really?” I asked, pleased with her compliment, as I reached up to smooth my long hair.
“Of course! Is this the latest design this year? It’s simple and elegant, and the craftsmanship is exquisite. It must have cost thousands of dollars!” Linia replied.
I touched the silk scarf in surprise and asked, “Is it really that expensive?”
Hearing this, a female employee teased, “Bella, you don’t even know the price? Did your boyfriend buy it for you?”
