Chapter 733:
“It’s best if you don’t!” Emma rolled her eyes at the attendant and turned to leave.
However, at that moment, Emma suddenly looked at us.
I didn’t want her to see me, but she did. I couldn’t pretend not to see her; that would be more hypocritical.
And I knew that Emma would definitely scream at me, as it was in her nature.
Sure enough, the next moment, after recovering her senses, Emma stepped into her high-heeled shoe and walked over to stand in front of me and Herbert.
I didn’t want to talk to her, but Emma mocked me, “Bella, you’re really capable. I admire you now. You didn’t marry Klein, and now you’re back looking for Mr. Wharton. There really isn’t a man you can’t handle! You’re just a whore.”
“Emma,” Herbert began, clearly about to teach her a lesson, but I interrupted him.
“The rule in my case,” I said with calm authority, “is that you should never try to steal a man from his wife. You and your mother, whenever you see a good man—whether he has a wife or a girlfriend—you just have to go after him. You are truly amazing.”
“You…” Emma couldn’t say another word.
At this moment, Herbert looked at me with a faint smile and then stretched out his hand to give me a thumbs-up.
I smiled at him and raised my chin.
I felt incredibly happy in that moment, especially seeing Emma’s face, which had been left looking as wilted as an eggplant. I had wanted to teach her a lesson for so long, but I never expected the day would come so soon.
Bella’s POV:
The next moment, Emma took a deep breath and sneered at me.
“Humph, let me tell you, my mother and I are doing well now. She left your father, and now she’s the wife of the chairman. I’m also the daughter of the chairman. Our lives are so much better than before.”
She continued with a mocking tone, “The most pitiful thing is your incompetent father and your mother, who spent half of her life in vain. Oh, and I heard that your sister was abandoned by a man too. Your sister even threatened to jump into the river with her child, begging him to take her back. Is that true?”
Emma’s words aimed to provoke me, but I felt no emotion. Her insults toward my mother, however, made me stand up. I grabbed a glass of lemonade from the table and splashed it straight into her face. In an instant, her face and clothes were drenched. Emma raised her hand angrily to slap me, but I caught her wrist, holding her back. Her eyes widened in surprise, and her fury was noticeably deflated.
“Bella, don’t go too far!” Emma yelled at me.
“Who’s really going too far here?” I retorted, “If you ever mention my mother again, I’ll teach you a lesson.”
I released her hand and pushed her back. Emma stumbled two steps, and by now, a few other guests were growing impatient.
“Is this really a high-end restaurant? How can you let a crazy woman like her come in?” one guest complained.
