Bride of Mr. Billion – Chapter 665

Bride of Mr. Billion - Chapter 665

Chapter 666:

“Who says I don’t dare?” I snapped back.

I raised my chin, determined to challenge him.

“You just don’t dare.”

I looked up into his gentle eyes, and my heart couldn’t help but race. Despite my frustration, I couldn’t bring myself to hurt him. His leg had been injured while saving Betty. If I kicked his leg again, it wouldn’t help me in any way. I was already struggling to take care of Lucas and Lucky, and if I ended up in jail, they would have to be handed over to Herbert. If his leg was permanently damaged, what would happen to the children?

I knew, deep down, that I was just looking for an excuse. The real reason was that I couldn’t bear to see him suffer.

I didn’t want him to be in pain.

Herbert pulled me into the car.

Connor started the engine, and the car moved into the lane.

The ride was silent. I pulled my hand out of his grasp and rubbed my wrist with my other hand. His grip had been so strong that I could still feel the pain in my wrist.

“Are you okay?” Herbert asked.

“I’m fine.”

I shook my head and then asked seriously, “What do you want from me?”

Herbert frowned and replied, “Tell me all the details of the QT Company budget case you took over.”

Surprised, I asked, “How did you know about that?”

“The police found you. Do you still want to hide it?” Herbert asked.

I lowered my head, not saying anything.

He spoke again, his tone serious.

“You’re the mother of my children. I can’t let you go to jail.”

I looked up and met Herbert’s earnest, determined gaze. Suddenly, my nose twitched, and tears began to well up in my eyes.

To be honest, no matter how strong I was, I was still a woman. The shock and grief of the past two days had really broken me, especially the six or seven hours of interrogation at the police station. It was a true test of my nerves and willpower.

The police’s investigation and questioning made me swear, deep down, that I would never break the law. Luckily, I had been released after those long hours. If I had stayed any longer, I might have gone crazy.

Then, Herbert wrapped his arm around my shoulder and pulled me into his embrace.

His arms were warm, and in that moment, I felt like I was being protected.

I didn’t cry when I was framed.

I didn’t cry when I was ridiculed.

I didn’t cry when I was treated like a criminal and interrogated by the police.

But now, in Herbert’s embrace, I could no longer hold back my tears.
