As expected, Selina placed a contract in front of me.
“Linda has already informed the HR department that you will officially become an employee starting today. This is the service contract the company is offering you. If you have no objections, please sign it. From next month onward, you will receive the salary of an official employee. Of course, you will also enjoy the benefits that come with it.”
Hearing this, I frowned. I hadn’t expected the contract to be ready so quickly, and I wasn’t fully prepared. Selina leaned back in her leather chair and smiled.
“Linda thinks very highly of you. She repeatedly warned me to train you well. To be honest, Bella, I really admire you. You’ve been separated from Herbert and Klein for so long, and they’re still so attentive toward you.”
I was taken aback by her words.
I knew that Herbert had fought with Jeremy, found Linda, and forced Daniel into orchestrating all of this. But had Klein also been involved? No, that couldn’t be. The relationship between Herbert and Klein was currently strained; they probably wouldn’t work together. It seemed as though Klein was acting behind the scenes?
Noticing my hesitation, Selina continued, “As far as I know, you’re raising a child alone, and life hasn’t been easy for you. You need a stable job, don’t you? I understand. You’re probably worried that, given our past conflicts, I might do something behind your back. If that’s the case, you can always ask Linda to transfer you to a different team. After all, we have plenty of teams here.”

I frowned at her suggestion. I didn’t understand what Selina’s game was. She couldn’t be offering to let me change teams out of kindness, could she? “This person is particularly insidious. Even if I change to another team, she’ll likely start rumors about me. My situation in a new team might end up being worse than here,” I thought to myself.
So, I decided against requesting a transfer.
Selina continued, “Actually, Linda has been keeping an eye on you. Even if you work under me, I won’t cause any trouble for you—unless, of course, you’re not competent enough. I believe you’re qualified for this job, right?”
Once Selina finished speaking, I took a pen and signed my name on the contract. After signing, I looked up at her and said, “I won’t change teams. I’ll stay here.”
Bella’s POV:
The company’s management and benefits were considered quite attractive in this industry. If I looked for another job, I knew it wouldn’t be better than this one. The most important factor, though, was that I would have to go through another one to three months of internship before earning a salary comparable to what I was already receiving.
I had a family to care for and a child to raise, so sometimes I needed to make compromises. I decided that I would work harder moving forward. Once I made up my mind, I was ready to dive into my work with 100% dedication.
A week later, Herbert was discharged from the hospital. On the evening of Friday, I found myself standing at the gate of his house.
Herbert now lived in a single villa, the most luxurious one in the entire community. He had said he wanted more space for both Lucas and Lucky, so he had moved to this villa with a garden.
The flowers in the garden were in full bloom. Bathed in the warm glow of the sunset, they looked breathtaking—like a painting.
