Chapter 586:
When it was time to leave, I quickly gathered my things and left the office with the others. After the overtime incident where I was alone and harassed, I decided it was better to take work home rather than stay late at the office. I was waiting for the bus when Jeremy, wearing a white shirt and holding a briefcase, walked over.
I moved deliberately to the side, hoping to avoid him, but it seemed unavoidable. The bus was taking unusually long to arrive today. In the end, I decided to take a taxi since I really didn’t want to be around him any longer. I turned to leave, but suddenly Jeremy stepped in my way.
“What do you want?” I asked, irritation creeping into my voice.
Jeremy smirked and said, “Bella, stop pretending. I know you like rich people. Maybe you don’t like an employee like me, but aren’t rich people getting tired of you now? Do you think anyone else is going to want you? I’m the only one who will keep liking you. So, why not date me?”
I snapped back, “I’m warning you, Jeremy. If you keep talking like that, I’ll be forced to take action.”
He scoffed, “What are you going to do? Report me for harassment? Hahaha, do you have any evidence? Will anyone even back up your claims of me harassing you before?”
Jeremy’s arrogance was infuriating. My hand brushed the fruit knife in my bag, and I knew exactly the kind of person Jeremy was. He looked tough, but in reality, he was a coward. He only bullied those he thought were weaker than him. If I didn’t resist, I knew he would keep pushing and bullying me.
The next moment, Jeremy seemed to shift his approach. He said, “Bella, don’t be angry. We can make a deal. I know you’re concerned about the budget of K.G. Software Company lately. I can help you with that. All you need to do is sleep with me, just once. I promise I won’t bother you again.”
As Jeremy spoke, his gaze wandered over my body, from top to bottom. His eyes made my skin crawl, and I couldn’t help but sneer inwardly.
Jeremy was despicable, but I couldn’t help but wonder how he planned to handle the K.G. Software Company’s budget. I held my breath, raised an eyebrow, and asked, “Then I need to hear how you plan to handle this case.”
Without hesitation, he stepped closer. I quickly took a step back, instinctively raising my arm to protect myself. I was on high alert as he explained, “I have a way to handle this case. If you follow my instructions step by step, I’ll make sure you succeed, and then you can smoothly become a permanent employee.”
“What do you have in mind?” I asked, still wary.
At that moment, Jeremy reached out and pinched my chin.
“Before I get what I want, I can’t tell you. If I tell you now, what’s stopping you from backing out?” he said smugly.
What a manipulative person! I countered, “I heard you’re married. How old is your son? Aren’t you worried your wife might find out?”
Jeremy scowled and replied, “Let’s not talk about that woman. Every day she stays home taking care of the child, getting as fat as a pig, and she doesn’t even try to look nice anymore. I have no feelings for her. If it weren’t for my son, I would have divorced her a long time ago.”
“You’re heartless. Your wife used to be a beautiful woman, didn’t she?” I said, my tone filled with disdain.
