Chapter 579:
Jeremy pointed towards the back of the room.
“Over there.”
“Thank you,” I replied, nodding, and walked towards the independent office. I took a deep breath before knocking on the door.
“Come in!”
A female voice called from inside. I gently opened the door and walked in.
“Hello, I’m Bella. I’m here to report.”
I didn’t have time to take in the details of the office as I smiled at the fashionable woman in a white suit sitting behind the desk. She looked up, and our eyes met for a brief moment before she smiled and said, “Please, sit down. I’ve been waiting for you.”
It took me a moment to process her words. Still slightly stunned, I stammered, “Are you Jessica?”
“Yes,” she replied with a confident smile.
She shrugged her shoulders. At that moment, I felt as though the world was spinning. It turned out that Selina was actually the leader of Group Six, under the name Jessica.
I couldn’t believe it – Selina had changed her name. She seemed very calm, as if she had known I was joining their team all along. It felt like she had been waiting for me to arrive, perhaps so she could humiliate me. After all, we had a history of conflict.
Selina was not a kind person. In fact, she could be quite vengeful.
Bella’s POV:
I sat across from Selina’s desk.
“You know I’m going to work here, right? Are you waiting for me on purpose?” I asked.
She took a document from the drawer and tossed it in front of me.
“Linda gave me your personal resume last week, saying that you’d be working in our sixth group. Bella, I didn’t expect to run into you again.”
I glanced at the resume in front of me. I had previously handed over evidence of her mistakes to Klein. It was clear she had been waiting for me to arrive so she could cause me trouble.
I stood up, reached for my resume, and said, “It’s just a coincidence. We won’t be colleagues.”
With that, I turned to leave.
“Wait a minute!”
I had taken two steps when I heard Selina’s voice. I stopped, turned to face her, and asked, “What else do you want?”
“You’re not planning to leave just because you saw that I’m your boss, are you?” she asked, looking at me intently.
“I don’t want to work with a superior who has a conflict with me. I’m sorry, you may need to recruit new employees,” I replied.
But Selina surprised me. She walked around the desk, approached me, and said, “Bella, I don’t care about the past anymore. I hope you don’t mind.”
