Chapter 547:
“If I’m not human, then it was you who climbed into my bed. I didn’t force you. And after that, you insisted on marrying me. I didn’t do anything to let you down. From the very beginning, I couldn’t give you my heart. You know this better than anyone else, but you won’t admit it.”
Hank’s voice was heavy with despair, his pent-up emotions finally breaking through.
“Do you know how much I loved you? How dare you say such things to me…”
“It’s been three years. I’ve loved you every day, admired you every day. I’m happy if you’re happy, and I’m upset if you’re upset.”
“I’ve taken care of you, cared for this home, and looked after our child… What else do you want me to do? What do you want me to do to make you love me?”
Betty squatted on the ground, crying with deep pain.
“Betty, love is a two-way thing. You can’t force your love on someone who doesn’t love you. It puts too much pressure on me.”
“I’ve had a hard time these past three years. Yes, I tried to love you, but I still couldn’t. I’m sorry.”
Hank took a couple of steps back. Although his eyes were filled with regret, there was a sense of resolve in his expression.
“If you don’t care about me, then what about our child?” Betty sobbed bitterly.
Tears welled up in Hank’s eyes.
“If you want to take Anne with you, I’ll give you enough money every month. If you don’t want to take her, I’ll keep the right to raise her. You won’t need to pay anything. And whenever you miss her, you can visit her anytime.”
When Betty heard that, she sneered.
“Haha, so you’ve already planned this, haven’t you? You’ve been wanting to divorce me for a long time.”
Betty’s eyes turned cold as she spoke, her voice sharp. Seeing them argue like this, I realized their conflict was much more serious than I thought. Hank seemed determined not to compromise this time.
I felt out of place, and I knew I couldn’t focus on them right now. My own situation was a mess.
So, without another thought, I lifted my wedding dress and turned to walk toward the lounge.
But Betty blocked my way.
“What do you want to do?” I asked, frustrated.
“Have you come to an agreement with Hank?” Betty asked, her voice demanding.
“What do you mean? I don’t understand.”
I couldn’t help but think Betty had become like a mad dog, directing her anger at me because Hank didn’t love her. Her tone was fierce.
“Do you think I’m a fool? Hank is divorcing me. You and Klein canceled today’s wedding. Don’t tell me the two of you have nothing to do with each other.”
“You said Klein already announced that the wedding was canceled?” I asked, confirming Betty’s words.
