Chapter 505:
“We’re still half an hour away from the scheduled time. We should be able to make it in time,” I replied with a smile. Hearing this, Klein reached out to hold my hand.
“If we’re late, they’ll have to wait for us. We’re VIP customers!” he teased.
“Is that wedding dress very expensive?” I asked.
“It’s designed by an Italian designer. The dress is beautiful. I want you to be the most stunning bride,” Klein said.
“In fact, there’s no need for it to be so grand,” I said, feeling uneasy.
“Marriage is one of the most important things in our lives. Of course, we have to take it seriously,” Klein replied.
Just as Klein finished speaking, a man suddenly appeared in the middle of the traffic. Thump, thump, thump! The man stepped forward and knocked firmly on the window of Klein’s car, signaling for him to open the door.
I looked out the window and saw that the man was wearing a gray and white striped coat. He looked very familiar, but I couldn’t recall where I had seen him before. Klein reached out and opened the door, and the man immediately climbed into the back seat. I couldn’t help but feel a bit surprised, but judging by Klein’s reaction, it seemed like he knew this person.
“Klein, it’s a good thing I ran into you!” the man said, his gaze constantly darting to the outside.
“William, what are you doing?” Klein asked with a frown.
At the sound of Klein’s words, I suddenly remembered—this was Emma’s ex-boyfriend. William looked in terrible shape today, as though he was hiding from someone. But who exactly was he hiding from?
“Emma is chasing me!” William said, his face a mix of frustration and comedy.
I recalled that the last time I’d heard from Klein, William had broken up with Emma and eventually gone abroad. That was around the time I was pregnant with Lucky, and now Lucky was almost a year old. Could it be that the breakup wasn’t really over? Klein, too, seemed shocked.
“You still have some sort of connection with that woman?” he asked, clearly surprised.
Bella’s POV:
William sat in the car seat, visibly distressed.
“The most regretful thing I’ve done in my life is provoke her. I’ve been hiding from her for over a year. I thought everything would be fine, so I came back to China for the New Year. But I didn’t know how she found out where I was. She’s been chasing me these days. I’m going crazy!”
“You…” Klein began to speak, but William quickly glanced out the car window. Then, he slumped back in the seat and said, “She’s here! Don’t let her find me, or I’ll be in big trouble.”
I looked out the window and saw a woman in a fur coat standing less than ten meters away from our car. It had been a while since we last saw each other, but Emma’s fashion choices hadn’t changed. Her curly hair framed her face, and large earrings dangled from her ears. She wore a white fur coat, a small black leather skirt, and red leather boots. The whole look struck me as a bit ridiculous. After searching for a while and not finding William, Emma seemed frustrated. She stomped her foot in anger and almost lost her balance. I was surprised to see her so embarrassed.
At that moment, the traffic light turned green. Klein pressed the gas pedal, and the car moved forward, driving past the intersection, leaving Emma behind. As we pulled away, Klein laughed.
