Chapter 441:
“What do you want?” I asked coldly, feeling the irritation rising.
She said some things I could still handle, but the way she was acting now seemed to frighten Lucky. My chest tightened with anger.
“I’m just warning you,” she said, her eyes full of cruelty.
“Don’t ever show your child to Hank again, or I won’t spare you!”
Lucky continued to cry in my arms as I stared at Betty.
So, it turned out she was worried I would try to seduce Hank. I couldn’t help but sneer.
If I truly had feelings for Hank, he wouldn’t even have anything to do with Betty anymore.
Betty continued, “Hank is a kind person. When he sees you holding a child and pretending to be pitiful, he will definitely feel sorry for you. Maybe you would use Hank’s sympathy to manipulate him?”
“Betty, I’ll say it again. I’m not interested in your Hank at all. Even if you sent him to me, I wouldn’t give him a second glance. So don’t worry. Don’t think that your man is so attractive that I’d do anything to get him, like you did!” I said loudly.
My words hit Betty hard, especially since she had climbed into Hank’s bed at all costs. She was furious. Pointing at me, she said, “You said that on purpose, didn’t you? I have to teach you a lesson!”
Betty’s hand was about to reach for me, but I took two steps back, clutching the child in my arms.
I didn’t want to fight with her. My main concern was Lucky’s safety.
Lucky seemed frightened and started crying. It broke my heart.
But Betty didn’t care. She completely ignored Lucky’s sobs in my arms and shouted, “You’re really a great sister. You can say anything to hurt me. I must be the luckiest person to have a sister like you!”
She was mocking me! Now, I was the one being hurt! What right did she have to say that?
I was about to retaliate when Betty suddenly charged at me. She wanted to hit me…
Bella’s POV:
I was so frightened that I took two steps back until my back was pressed against the flower rack. I looked up and saw the resentment in Betty’s eyes. Instinctively, I protected Lucky with my arms.
Clang.
At that moment, the door opened, and a gentle voice filled the air.
“Today’s ingredients are so fresh, and the cod fish looks great. Bella, I’ll cook something delicious for you tonight.”
I breathed a sigh of relief when I heard my mother’s voice.
I wasn’t afraid of fighting, but I was afraid of hurting Lucky. It was a relief that my mother was here. She wouldn’t let me fight Betty.
“Mom, you’re back,” I said, feeling reassured.
