Chapter 413:
A month later, Klein brought me to the hospital for a check-up.
I walked out of the hospital with a stack of medical reports in my hands.
“Klein, my condition is normal. The baby is developing well, and everything is fine. The doctor says I can go back to my usual routine, but I need to be careful.”
“I told you a long time ago, the baby will be fine,” Klein said.
“Because of you,” I said softly. Hearing those words, I became a little emotional but tried to hide it. Just then, a voice came from behind.
“Hey, why are you here?” We turned around and saw William and Emma, holding hands. They looked very happy.
“I’m here for a check-up,” Klein replied.
“A check-up? You look as strong as a bull,” William joked, laughing.
“Don’t tell me you’re here to tell me something’s wrong?” He then changed the subject, his tone more serious.
“I have good news for you. I’m getting married! The wedding will be next month.” He even patted Emma’s hand, which rested comfortably on his.
I glanced at Emma’s flat stomach. It seemed that she was already expecting. At that moment, her smile was warm, her eyes full of pride.
Klein replied, “William, that’s amazing. You’re so full of surprises.”
“We’ve already decided. We’re getting married next month. When the time comes, I’ll send you an invitation. You’ll come, won’t you?” William said excitedly.
I smiled politely at William but didn’t respond immediately.
“Congratulations,” I said quietly.
“Thank you!” William said, laughing with joy.
“I plan to bring Emma home tonight to meet my parents. They’ve always been looking forward to having grandchildren. Now that their dream has come true, they’ll definitely approve.”
Klein hesitated for a moment, but in the end, he didn’t say anything. He simply offered a few words of encouragement.
“Good luck to both of you!”
“Well, I’m in a rush to buy gifts for my parents! Let’s talk next time,” William said before leaving, carrying Emma in his arms.
“Bye!” Klein waved as they left.
Only after William and Emma had gone far did Klein laugh coldly.
“This friend of mine has been fooled by Emma. I wonder where his intelligence has gone.”
“Maybe he thought he had found true love,” I replied.
Klein responded, “That can’t be right. You and Emma are enemies, yet you’re so calm. Why?”
I pursed my lips and smiled.
“For my child, I must stay calm. I won’t care about anything that doesn’t concern me from now on.”
