Chapter 397:
“This young lady bumped into the other lady. The other lady asked for compensation, but this one refused.”
Klein looked up at Emma, his eyes narrowing. Emma quickly responded, “Isn’t this Klein? I’ve heard that for Bella, he’d do anything. My Chanel dress costs $6,000. If the lawyer can’t compensate me for this, then don’t speak!”
Klein reached into his pocket and pulled out his wallet.
I grabbed his arm urgently, explaining, “She shares half the responsibility for this! She’s the one who’s causing trouble. We can’t just pay her like that!”
“It doesn’t matter. If you don’t want to compensate, we’ll take it to court. You won’t have to pay, but you can sleep with the lawyer to cover the legal fees!” Emma said, smirking maliciously.
Her words made my stomach turn.
“What did you just say?” I asked, my voice filled with anger. I really wanted to shut her up.
“I’m speaking in English! Don’t you understand?” Emma mocked.
“I know that Klein broke up with Vivian because of you. You’re just a mistress pretending to be kind.” She deliberately raised her voice, making sure the crowd heard.
People began to gossip and point at me.
“So she’s the homewrecker!” one person whispered.
“She doesn’t deserve any sympathy…” another added.Emma’s words made the onlookers start scolding me. At that moment, Klein was visibly furious. Pointing at Emma, he warned her sternly, “Emma, you must apologize for what you just said!”
“So what if I don’t?” Emma shot back.
“I know you’re good at handling cases. You can take me to court if you want. I’ll let your colleagues see how far you’ll go over a woman who’s been divorced!”
Emma wasn’t intimidated at all.
“Hmph. Filing a lawsuit against someone like you would only insult my profession,” Klein replied, his voice cold.
“I don’t want to hit a woman, but it seems today might be an exception.”
At that moment, Klein was about to strike Emma. I quickly grabbed his arm, desperate to stop him. If Klein hit a woman in public, the consequences could be disastrous for him. Emma took two steps back and screamed, “The lawyer is going to hit me! The lawyer is going to hit me!”
In an instant, the manager of the coffee shop and several security guards arrived. The situation became even more chaotic. I felt so frustrated, wondering how I ended up encountering Emma today. At the same time, guilt consumed me for dragging Klein into this mess again.
In an attempt to resolve the issue, I decided I’d offer to compensate for the dress and settle things quickly. I didn’t want to bring further trouble to Klein. Just then, a handsome man in a sky-blue suit walked over. He reached out and gently took Emma’s hand, asking with concern, “What happened?”
The once arrogant Emma instantly became weak in front of him. She cried out, “Ah, William, I was knocked into by someone, and the clothes you bought for me are ruined!”
