Chapter 391:
“Bella, where have you been? Why did you leave the tap running? Do you know that the toilet and living room were flooded when I came back from shopping?”
The water in the living room had been cleaned, but the bathroom still had water flowing. I patted my forehead. I had forgotten to turn off the tap when I left.
It was my fault for wasting so much water.
I grabbed the mop from my mother’s hands and smiled.
“Mom, I should’ve bought some fish and placed them in the house.”
My mother, who had been scolding me, couldn’t help but smile at my comment. However, after a moment, her expression grew serious again.
“Be more careful next time.”
“Okay, I got it, Mom,” I said, smiling.
I managed to clean up the mess, but suddenly, a wave of nausea hit me. I quickly closed the bathroom door and bent over the toilet to vomit. Afterward, I stood in front of the sink, rinsing my mouth, and looked at myself in the mirror.
My pregnancy symptoms were becoming more obvious. It seemed that I needed to leave home as soon as possible. My mother was conservative, and Betty’s pregnancy had already caused enough tension. Thankfully, Betty and Hank had married smoothly.
If my mother knew I was pregnant before marriage, she would be furious. And I couldn’t tell her who the father was.

Herbert and I would never be together.
If my mother found out, she would likely pressure me into getting an abortion.
No, I had to find a way to leave as soon as possible. I couldn’t let my mom find out about all of this.
I had promised Mom that I would spend more time with her, but it seemed like I was about to break that promise again. I felt guilty.
I closed the bathroom door and went to the living room.
“Mom, I’ll take you to the mall to buy some clothes this afternoon,” I said, trying to sound enthusiastic.
“I have enough clothes to wear. You don’t need to spend money,” my mother replied, although there was a smile on her face.
“It’s a gift for you! By the way, I heard there are several nice tourist spots nearby. How about we go on a trip tomorrow?” I suggested, smiling.
“I’m very happy that you’re spending time with me these days. We don’t need to go out and spend money, though,” she said, still refusing.
Bella’s POV:
After some persuasion, my mom finally agreed. The next morning, we left home together. I had arranged for a two-day trip nearby with a tourist group. I focused on making sure my mom had a great time, and seeing her happy made me feel lighter too.
However, after the trip, I felt completely exhausted and unwell. I knew I couldn’t delay things any longer.
While we were having breakfast the next morning, I said to my mom, “Mom, there’s something I need to talk to you about.”
