Chapter 385:
“Since you heard everything, you should know what I said to Hank. I just asked him to treat you and your child well. How is that shameless seduction?”
My words only seemed to infuriate Betty more. She advanced toward me, her eyes filled with anger.
“Hank and I used to have a very happy life. It was only when you entered our home that I couldn’t even relax when I was sleeping. Do you know how exhausting it’s been? You did this on purpose. You deliberately seduced him!”
I backed away, my back pressed against the corner of the wall. I couldn’t believe that my own sister was saying these things.
“Betty, is this how you really see me?” I asked, my voice trembling.
“I only believe what I see,” Betty shot back.
“Just now, you were flirting with Hank while drying clothes. I know your relationship with Herbert is over. You must be feeling lonely.”
“But could you please find someone else? Hank and I are married. He is your brother-in-law. Are you trying to break us apart?”
Betty’s voice grew more frantic as she spoke, pushing me further into the corner.
“You!” I whispered in disbelief, looking at her as if she were a stranger. This was the sister I had cared for and protected since we were children. Tears filled my eyes as the hurt sank in. I knew Betty had grown up and had her own thoughts, but hearing her say these words made my heart break.

“Betty, don’t you realize? Not only are you insulting me, but you’re also insulting yourself,” I said, my voice strained.
Betty turned her head away sharply and snapped, “I’m just defending my relationship and my love. I’m doing the right thing. Now, please leave my house immediately!”
Hearing this, I closed my eyes, and tears began to flow. I wiped them away with the back of my hand.
“You don’t have to drive me away. I was planning to leave anyway,” I said quietly.
I turned and walked out of the room, knowing that Betty and I had almost reached the end of our sisterhood. How could we remain sisters after the hurtful words she had spoken? A few minutes later, I packed up my things and walked out of the room with my suitcase. As I passed by the living room, I saw Betty sitting on the sofa, the baby in her arms.
Betty gave me a cold look, then patted the baby gently, saying, “My baby, I hope your annoying aunt won’t come back. From now on, we’ll live a happy life with your daddy!”
I used to take care of Betty, pay her tuition, and protect her. And now, I was the “annoying aunt”? I wiped my tears, pulled my suitcase, and walked out the door. As I reached the entrance of the community, I saw Hank holding a bag of burgers in his hand.
“Where are you going? Why are you crying?” Hank asked, walking up to me. I immediately took two steps back, distancing myself from him.
“Why are you avoiding me?” Hank asked, a confused look on his face.
