Chapter 361:
“Boss?”
I hadn’t expected her to come to the hospital in person. She smiled warmly and said, “You look better. I hope you recover soon.”
Klein stood up and took the bouquet from Ella. He then found a vase and placed it on the table beside my bed.
“Thank you,” I said with a smile.
“Boss, I need two days off,” I said, looking at Ella.
“You should take three days off before you start working again. Otherwise, someone will say I’m abusing you,” she replied with a smile. She cast a glance at Klein, who was nearby.
“I’ve never said that!” Klein quickly protested.
Ella smirked.
“You didn’t, but you did say that Bella is sick because I assigned too many tasks to her.”
“That was just a joke,” Klein said, looking a little uncomfortable as he adjusted the tie around his neck.
Ella raised an eyebrow, still smiling.
“Was it really just a joke, Lawyer?”
Their casual conversation made me curious, so I asked, “Do you know each other?”
“We…”
Klein hadn’t even finished speaking when Ella chimed in, “Not only do we know each other, but we’re old friends! Right, Klein?”
Klein seemed to grow a little nervous.
“Right. We’ve known each other for many years,” he admitted.
“How could this be so coincidental?”
I was very surprised.
“There are still many things waiting for me to handle,” Ella said to me.
“Take a rest first. I’m leaving.”
“Goodbye.”
I nodded hastily. Ella glanced at Klein, and Klein said, “I’ll send you off.”
Ella then walked out of the ward, followed by Klein. At that moment, I suddenly noticed that Klein’s leg seemed a bit strange. I frowned.
“What’s wrong with his leg?”
I suddenly remembered what he had said earlier. Had he injured his leg when he kicked the door open?
Thinking of this, I felt guilty, but I was also touched. However, I was surprised to learn that Ella had known Klein for a long time. A strange feeling stirred in my heart.
Only after leaving the ward did Klein and Ella stop in their tracks. Klein roared, “Ella, what’s going on with you? Why did you say such nonsense?”
“Do you want me to pretend that we don’t know each other?” Ella retorted, clearly irritated.
“You didn’t have to act like we have some special connection!” Klein was frantic.
Ella’s finger slid across Klein’s chest as she flashed him a teasing smile.
