Chapter 351:
“Ah!”
“What’s wrong?” Klein asked, noticing my reaction.
I frowned and said, “I need to ask for leave from my boss. I was planning to take the overtime compensation for the festival, but now it seems that’s not possible. Plus, my face will probably take about a week to recover.”
Klein suggested, “Bella, have you considered changing jobs?”
“Changing jobs?” I looked at him, confused by his suggestion.
Klein continued, “You already have a CPA certificate. You could find a stable and promising job. Working at a travel agency might not be the best fit for you.”
“How did you know I have a CPA certificate? Did Amy tell you?” I asked, staring at Klein.
“Bingo,” Klein replied, admitting it with a smile.
I lowered my head, feeling a bit embarrassed.
“To please you, Amy told you everything.”
“Don’t blame her. I’m her boss!” Klein said, lightheartedly shifting the responsibility onto himself. Then, he continued, “I know you don’t want to leave yet, but I have a good friend in Wharton Mountain. She’s a senior accountant and runs an accounting firm there. She’s looking for someone like you, with a CPA certificate, to help her out. The salary she offers is much better than what you’re getting at the travel agency. How about I introduce you to her?”
I immediately interrupted him.

“I know the travel agency doesn’t offer many benefits or a great salary, but I’ve been here for over a month now. The boss and my colleagues have been very kind to me, and the agency really needs help. My boss is still looking for a suitable accountant. I’ll think about it for now.”
At that moment, I finally understood how Klein felt about me. The reason he wanted to help was because he liked me.
He had saved me, and I was deeply grateful. But my feelings were based on gratitude, not love. I couldn’t return his feelings, so I chose not to accept his help.
Klein was silent for a moment, then he smiled and nodded.
“I respect your decision. If you ever want to change jobs, I can recommend you.”
“Thank you,” I replied softly.
At nine o’clock in the morning, Klein drove me back to Wharton Mountain. Over the next two or three hours, we chatted casually, as if we were old friends.
Ring… Ring…
My phone suddenly rang.
I pulled out my broken phone, glanced at it, and said, “It’s my boss.”
I answered the call.
“Bella, what’s going on? A customer complained that you didn’t serve them properly today. They said you scolded them and even pulled a large chunk of their hair out. Someone from the travel agency wants to investigate this. If this is true, our agency might have to suspend operations.”
The boss’s tone was full of anxiety. This was all Connie and Emma’s fault. They were the ones who hit me first. I was just protecting myself. I didn’t expect them to file a complaint. I knew the consequences when a travel agency was forced to close, and the suspension could last for a short or long period.
Even if it was just for half a month, it would still be a major blow to the agency. I felt guilty. Connie and Emma were causing trouble for me, and I was the one who ended up implicating the entire travel agency.
