Chapter 350:
Klein glanced at the watch on his wrist and replied, “7:30.”
“This is bad! My tour group has already gathered. You have to take me back!”
I tugged at Klein’s arm, rushing to leave. But after a few steps, Klein gently pulled me back.
“Don’t worry,” he said.
“Your colleague has recovered. She went back to lead the group this morning.”
“How do you know that?” I asked, surprised.
With a smile, Klein turned to the coffee table and picked up my broken phone.
“Last night, your phone was left on the coffee table. This morning, I received a text at 5 a.m. But I didn’t look at it. I just saw a message saying your colleague would take over the tour and that she hoped you would get some rest.”
Bella’s POV:
Hearing this, I quickly took the phone and noticed that although the screen was cracked, it still worked. Looking at the damaged phone made me feel a little uneasy. It was a gift from Herbert. The day I was hospitalized, we had argued. In his anger, he threw my phone against the wall, and it broke. He then bought me a new one.
This phone was the only thing I had kept from Herbert, the last thing I could still hold onto, the last connection to him.
I tried to push the discomfort away, refusing to let it overwhelm me.
The unease didn’t last long. My mind quickly calmed. Herbert and I were over. The phone, whether it existed or not, no longer mattered. I turned it on and read the text message. It was from Emilia, sent early this morning. She was feeling better and would be leading the tour today. Upon learning this, I felt a wave of relief. At least I would have the day to myself.
“Breakfast?” Klein asked with a smile.
“Thank you,” I replied as I sat on the sofa, my stomach growling.
“You can start enjoying your breakfast,” Klein reminded me, still smiling.
“Okay,” I nodded and began eating. Klein poured me a cup of warm milk.
I stuffed my mouth full, then took a sip of the warm milk. Setting the glass back down on the coffee table, I said, “Fighting really takes a lot of energy!”
Klein turned to me, chuckling.
“Isn’t it hard to take on two opponents by yourself?”
I touched my cheek, a sense of pride in my voice as I responded, “Although I was injured, they were both beaten by me. I kicked Connie in the belly hard, and then I pulled Emma’s hair!”
Klein lowered his head and laughed.
“Are you that powerful?” he asked, his voice full of amusement.
“I’m telling the truth! Are you questioning me?”
I frowned. Klein immediately said seriously, “Do you need me to find someone to teach them a lesson?”
I tore off a piece of bread and put it in my mouth. As I chewed, I replied, “Forget it. I don’t want to cause trouble for you. When I have the strength, I’ll handle it myself.”
Klein nodded, then added, “I respect that. Please let me know if you ever need my help. I can take care of them for you.”
Although I didn’t agree with Klein’s offer, I still gave him a grateful look. Suddenly, an important thought crossed my mind.
