Chapter 335:
I quickly made an excuse to leave, fearing that my mother would start asking about my private life again.
Bella’s POV:
The next morning, I met up with Joey to look for a job together.
By noon, Joey and I were exhausted from walking, so we sat down on a bench by the street and ordered two cups of hot coffee.
Although it was winter, the midday sun was still warm, and the hot coffee helped chase away the cold that had settled inside me.
Joey held her cup of coffee and complained, “They say it’s hard to find a job these days, but I didn’t expect it to be this tough. We’ve been running around all morning, and only a few small companies are hiring.”
I took a sip of my coffee and replied, “It’s said that the economy is in a downturn right now. All the big companies are cutting back on staff, which is why the small companies are hiring more—they have a higher turnover rate.”
“What should we do? Should we apply to a small company?” Joey asked, sounding anxious.
I smirked and said, “There are only two months left until the Spring Festival. We can take a temporary job for now.”
“I’ve heard that the economy might pick up in the spring, and there’s usually more turnover at the end of the year. Big companies might start hiring again then, and we could have a chance,” Joey said, her expression brightening.
“Of course, if we can pass the accounting exam and get the certification, it’ll be much easier to find a job. The salary will definitely be higher than before,” I added.

Joey nodded thoughtfully, but then she suddenly stared at me and asked, “Your analysis is really professional. Who did you hear that from?”
The familiar face of Herbert immediately came to my mind.
What I had just said was exactly what Herbert had told me.
I didn’t want Joey to ask more questions, so I quickly responded, “These are just my own conclusions from looking for a job.”
Joey didn’t press further but nodded and said, “I think you’re right. So, we don’t need to worry about finding a company right now. It’s only a little over a month until the Spring Festival. Why don’t we sell cosmetics and high-end clothes? The mall gets really busy during this time, and we need a temporary job. I heard that if we work through the holiday, our salary will be three times what we’d get at a company. And of course, we’re young and beautiful, so we’ll definitely stand out!”
Joey was very confident in her looks.
Just then, the crowd in the shopping district suddenly became loud and chaotic.
Joey and I looked at the crowd in confusion, seeing everyone staring up at the massive TV screen on the outer wall of a grand building.
When I saw the image on the screen, I was stunned.
The enormous screen displayed a wedding photo. The man in the photo wore a black suit, and the woman wore a white, shoulder-length wedding dress with a diamond-studded crown on her head. Behind her, the sea stretched out, and her veil floated gently in the wind—it was a beautiful sight.
Joey couldn’t help but stand up in anger.
“What is this? Why does it have to be shown here like an advertisement? I really don’t know if they are really married!” she exclaimed.
