Chapter 316:
Bella narrowed her eyes at me.
“What are you laughing at?”
I placed my hands on her shoulders and smirked.
“Why don’t we discuss this in bed tonight?”
“You should know that bed is meant for sleeping,” Bella shot back, feigning resistance.
It seemed I had exhausted her last night.
I wanted to be gentle with her, truly, but every time I touched her, I lost control. Bella had a way of making me forget everything else.
“Fine, we don’t have to go to bed right away. Your sofa might be a little small, but it’ll do.”
I leaned in and pressed a kiss to her forehead.
Bella laughed and gave me a playful shove.
“Be serious, okay?”
“I’m very serious right now.”
My gaze drifted toward the sofa. It was small, but it wouldn’t be a problem for what I had in mind.
At that moment, Bella’s expression shifted, and she seemed genuinely annoyed.
“I quit today. I’m not cooking!”
She pulled off her apron and tossed it aside in defiance.

Watching her pout in frustration, I couldn’t help but smile.
Even when she was angry, my Bella was unbelievably adorable. As soon as I stepped out of the kitchen, the man behind me caught my arm and pulled me into his embrace.
I tried to push him away, but it was useless.
He gently pinched my chin, his eyes filled with amusement.
“Are you really angry?”
“Yes!”
I nodded firmly, exaggerating my frustration.
Herbert’s smile remained soft as he gazed at me.
“I’ve realized something—you look even more beautiful when you’re angry.”
His words made me laugh despite myself. I playfully smacked his shoulder, unable to stay mad at him for long.
“How about I take you out for dinner tonight?” he suggested suddenly.
I agreed without hesitation. I was exhausted from the day and had no desire to cook.
“I want barbecue,” I declared, looking up at him expectantly.
“You can have whatever you want,” Herbert replied.
I could sense the warmth in his voice, his respect for my preferences. The way he treated me now—it was comforting, effortless. I liked this version of us.
As promised, he took me to a high-end barbecue restaurant, and the food was incredible. I ate to my heart’s content while Herbert watched me with quiet affection. His eyes were filled with a tenderness that made my heart melt.
Each time I met his gaze, I felt cherished. This moment, this feeling—it was too beautiful.
