Chapter 303:
My mood suddenly lifted.
“She should be going to England in three days.” I nodded.
“You know about it?” Joey’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Yes, Herbert booked a plane ticket for her to go to England in three days.” I nodded again.
Joey playfully hit me and complained, “Why didn’t you tell me earlier? If I had known the bitch was leaving, I would’ve been happy much sooner. She’s been driving me crazy these days!”
“Herbert just told me,” I said, smiling at Joey’s frustration.
“Anyway, I’m still very happy now. That bitch won’t cause me trouble anymore. No one will ruin the relationship between you and Herbert. How about we drink and celebrate today?” Joey suggested eagerly.
I shook my head.
“You can drink because tomorrow’s the weekend. I can’t. I have to keep preparing my resume for tomorrow!” I explained.
Joey tugged at my arm and begged, “No, you’ll drink with me!”
“No!” I continued to refuse.
“I’ve been keeping you company for so long, even risking getting expelled by the boss! I just want you to accompany me once. If not, I’ll ignore you in the future!” Joey said, pretending to be angry.
I knew she was just playing, but I still relented and decided to coax her.

“Okay, I’ll accompany you this time.”
Bella’s POV:
That night, Joey and I drank a lot. We ended up sleeping until noon the next day.
I sat up in my pajamas, touched my messy long hair, and glanced at Joey, complaining, “Half the day is already gone, and my resume is still not ready.”
“You don’t need to find a job! You’re about to become the wife of the president of the Wharton Group. Your job will just be taking care of the boss,” Joey said with her eyes still closed.
“You’ve been awake for a while. Stop pretending to be asleep!” I threw a pillow at her. Joey reached out to block it, then sat up with a smile and teased, “I’m telling the truth. If I were you, I’d just want to be a rich wife without working. I’d only think about which beauty salon to go to today, what bag to buy tomorrow, and which gym to go to the day after. Unfortunately, I’m not you, and I’m not the president’s wife!”
I smiled and said, “You might marry a rich man!”
“I hope your prophecy comes true. From now on, I’ll pray to God every day at home,” Joey said, making a prayer gesture.
I got off the bed and said, “Stop talking nonsense. I have to finish editing my resume, and I need to go out today.”
“It’s the weekend. You can rest,” Joey frowned.
I opened the wardrobe and started looking for clothes.
“I can’t wait for an opportunity. I have to take the initiative and find a job, then work hard to earn my own money.”
Even though Herbert was my husband and a wealthy man, with enough money to keep me financially secure, I didn’t want to rely on him entirely. I needed my own life and work.
“You go ahead. I’m going back to sleep,” Joey said, lying back down.
