At that moment, the door to the emergency room opened, and a doctor came out.
Bella’s POV:
When the doctor asked, Herbert walked over and said, “I’m her friend. How is she?”
The doctor glanced at Herbert and replied, “It’s not a big deal. We saved her in time, but she still needs to be treated. Where is her family? Some documents need to be signed, and the hospitalization fee needs to be paid. The patient has been moved to the ward. Inform her family to take care of her.”
Hearing this, Herbert glanced at me and replied, “She has no family now. I can pay and sign for her.”
“Fine,” the doctor said.
Only then did the doctor take out the document for Herbert to sign. He glanced at Connor, who immediately went to pay the bill. After Herbert signed, the doctor took the document and left.
Herbert walked up to me and explained, “I’m sorry. She has no relatives now. I have to take care of her.”
To be honest, I found it very strange. Since she was already his ex-girlfriend, why did he still have to take care of her?
But after thinking about it carefully, Caroline had no relatives or other friends in the city. Herbert was her only friend, and they had grown up together.

I nodded.
Then he turned around and walked toward the ward.
Looking at Herbert’s back, I felt disappointed. I continued watching until I couldn’t see him anymore, then turned around and slowly walked to the main door of the emergency room.
On my way home, my mood was conflicted.
Why should I be so tolerant? I couldn’t believe he still had to take care of his ex-girlfriend.
Maybe I should have been a little more willful just now. I shouldn’t have let him see Caroline.
What if he fell in love with her again? Even if that wasn’t the case, everyone knew how much she loved Herbert. What if she took the initiative to seduce him?

Connor handed me a stack of bills. Then, without saying another word, he turned and left. This happened to give me the chance to go back to the ward to visit Herbert.
