I was more than willing to help her.
It became my greatest joy to return to Bella every day after work. In the next few days, I made a point to leave work early.
I wanted to see her, hold her hand, hug her, kiss her—of course, what I desired most was to be with her intimately.
It was a natural impulse, one that I couldn’t ignore when it came to the woman I loved.
I kept track of time in my mind, and Bella’s period seemed to be nearing its end.
That evening, I arrived at Bella’s house right at seven o’clock.
But when the door opened, it wasn’t Bella who greeted me—it was her good friend, Joey.
“Mr. Wharton, nice to meet you!”
Joey greeted me warmly. I was caught off guard for a moment, but quickly responded, “Hello.”
“Come in. Bella’s in the kitchen. Dinner will be ready soon.”
Joey turned and went back to the kitchen to help.
I was curious—why was Joey suddenly here?
I washed my hands and sat down at the table, watching as Bella and Joey worked together to set the dinner.
My gaze remained on Bella the entire time.
Once everything was ready and we were all seated, Bella spoke first.
“Today, these dishes were bought by Joey. The main dish was made by me. This is our special invitation for you to become our teacher.”
“Your… teacher?”
I frowned, confused by her words.
Bella continued, “Yes. From now on, you are both my teacher and Joey’s teacher. You’ll tutor us for the CPA exam every night. We don’t have anything else to offer you, except for dinner. We promise we’ll cook a delicious meal for you every night.”
I was silent for a moment, absorbing her words.
I had agreed to tutor Bella because I wanted to spend more time with her. But now, it seemed she and Joey had their own plans.
Bella’s POV:
Without discussing it with me, Joey had become my student. What was going on?
Joey said, “Mr. Wharton, I heard you’re tutoring Bella, so I asked if I could join. I also want to take the exam. My foundation is weak and I’m not very bright, so I thought I could join Bella’s tutoring sessions. Can you accept me, a not-so-smart student?”
Oh? That was the reason? My intuition told me that wasn’t the real reason.
I stayed silent. Bella smiled and said, “I didn’t handle it well. I wanted to tell you in advance, but I wasn’t sure if you were in a meeting. I forgot to mention it while preparing dinner. Please accept my good friend as your student. Plus, Joey works at your company. If she improves, it’ll be good for the company.”
I didn’t want anyone to disturb our lives, even if they were Bella’s good friends.
As I hesitated, I felt a pair of feet brushing against my calf. It was Bella!
She was teasing me on purpose, and I couldn’t say no.
