Chapter 208:
“I just think it’s too extravagant to wear.”
I glanced at her indifferently.
“If you like it, I can buy you a similar one.”
Her expression shifted.
“What do you mean? Didn’t you… buy it for me?” Her eyes widened in surprise.
“I have my own reasons for that brooch.”
My tone remained indifferent.
Caroline came to an abrupt stop, her expression hardening as she stared at me. Her voice sharpened with suspicion.
“Did you buy that brooch for Bella?”
“It’s none of your business.”
Without another word, I turned and walked away from the dance floor.
“Herbert!”
Caroline called my name from behind, but I didn’t respond. Bella’s image filled my thoughts.
Bella’s POV:
For some reason, Herbert and Caroline had a quarrel and left early. The party was nearing its end.
Klein and I were about to leave as well.
As we were saying our goodbyes, Mrs. Reina tugged at my hand and said, “Miss Stepanek, thank you for your help.”

“Mrs. Reina, it’s my honor,” I replied with a smile.
“You remind me of myself when I was young. I hope we can meet again next time,” Mrs. Reina said.
“We will.”
I nodded.
Although I said that, I knew deep down that there was a big difference between Mrs. Reina’s world and mine. She and I were from completely different worlds. I probably wouldn’t have the chance to see her again in the future.
Mrs. Reina was not at all like some of the noble ladies. She was kind and very respectable. After she sent me home and we arrived at the entrance of the estate, Klein insisted on getting out of the car and walking me to the door.
“There’s no need to send me off. I can go back myself.”
I refused Klein’s offer. Klein, however, continued walking me into the community, laughing as he said, “This old community isn’t very safe at night. You should be careful.”
“Thank you.”
I didn’t continue to refuse. Although the building was in the center of the city, it was indeed old, but the rent was cheap. In order to save money, I had chosen this place. The biggest advantage was its proximity to the company. To cover the living expenses of my mother and sister, I had to be frugal, even though my salary wasn’t low.
Once we reached the corridor, I turned around and smiled.
“I’m here!”
Klein stood there, his hand resting on the back of his head. He didn’t seem ready to leave.
He looked up at the sky.
