Chapter 128:
Betty was about to change her major, and I had many things to handle at home. Mom had been waiting for me to take her to the doctor. How could I live here?
“In the evening, Miranda will come with your daily necessities to take care of you. You’d better not run around. The top of Moon Mountain hasn’t been developed into a tourist spot, so wild animals might appear,” he warned sternly before turning and walking away from the villa.
I immediately chased after him, but Herbert was too quick, and I couldn’t keep up. All I could do was watch him get into the car and drive off.
“Herbert, come back!” I shouted in panic. But the gate of the garden slowly closed behind him, and the security guards at the entrance only waved as his car drove away.
I collapsed onto the threshold in despair. That bastard, Herbert, really imprisoned me at the top of the mountain!
Bella’s POV:
That night, Miranda appeared in front of me with my daily necessities.
She made me some noodles, but I didn’t want to eat anything at all. I hadn’t slept all night. As dawn broke, I stood in front of the French window on the second floor, looking down at the entire courtyard. The temperature on the mountain was much colder than in the city, and I had draped a night robe over my shoulders. The early morning on the mountain was beautiful and quiet, but I couldn’t bring myself to enjoy it.
This villa was decorated with European-style furniture, and it was luxurious. Even the crystal cups for drinking water were imported, and the floors were covered with expensive wool rugs. Although it was summer, the mountaintop was moist and cold. I didn’t feel the chill until I covered myself with a thick quilt at night. Heh! Herbert had found an exquisite cage to imprison me. Along with the loneliness, I felt a deep sense of fear.

It turned out that it was truly dangerous to upset Herbert.
My phone had been smashed by him, so my family and friends couldn’t get in touch with me. They must have been anxious, but the phone in the villa had been restricted by Herbert. It could only be used to contact him and Connor. I couldn’t call anyone else. I spent the entire night thinking, but I couldn’t come up with a solution. The only option was to keep calling Herbert.
“Herbert, let me out. Do you hear me?”
“Herbert, I don’t want to stay here. Hurry up and send someone to pick me up!”
“Herbert, you bastard, you have no right to restrict my freedom!”
However, every time I spoke, the other end of the phone was always silent. I felt like he wasn’t even listening. When I finally grew tired of shouting and didn’t want to talk anymore, he spoke calmly.
“The air on the mountain is very good. It’s good for your health. You’ve talked so much, consider it training for your lungs!”
“Herbert, you really deserve to die!” I cursed, but the phone had already been hung up. He couldn’t hear a word of my curse.
In a fit of anger, I smashed the only phone in the villa. After two days of silence, I finally came up with a way to fight back: a hunger strike. He might not care about my body, but he couldn’t ignore the well-being of the baby. I decided not to eat or drink anything for the rest of the day.
I already felt an overwhelming hunger, but I had to endure it. I couldn’t let myself remain locked in a cage like a bird. My mother and sister would be devastated if they couldn’t find me. In the evening, Miranda brought dinner to me, speaking in a pleading tone.
“Mrs. Wharton, please eat something. The baby in your belly will be very uncomfortable.”
