Bride of Mr. Billion - Chapter 86

Chapter 86:

After the workers brought the boxes inside, I smiled and said, “You’ve worked hard. I’ll get you some water.”

“No need to bother, we won’t drink,” the workers waved their hands.

“It’s a hot day. Please, it’s fine to have some water,” I insisted, turning toward the kitchen.

As soon as I reached the kitchen door, I suddenly felt dizzy. I closed my eyes and, before I could catch myself, I collapsed to the ground.

I thought I heard someone calling my name, but in just a few seconds, everything went black.

In my haze, I heard voices near me. Someone was speaking softly in my ear. My eyelids felt so heavy, and I wanted to open them, but I couldn’t. The conversation between two people reached my ears.

“Doctor, how is my wife?” Herbert’s anxious voice echoed through my mind.

“Mr. Wharton, we’ve completed all the necessary exams. The patient’s physical condition is normal now. She fainted due to overexertion. Given her pregnancy, she needs to avoid excessive fatigue going forward,” a male doctor replied.

“Are you sure there’s nothing wrong with her?” Herbert’s voice was filled with concern.

The doctor chuckled softly and replied, “Mr. Wharton, doctors are not gods. No one can make such a promise.”

“I’m sorry, I was too anxious just now,” Herbert apologized.

“I can understand your feelings,” the doctor reassured him.

After the doctor’s words, I could hear the sound of footsteps. Slowly, my eyelids fluttered open, and I saw Herbert standing beside me, his anxious expression softening when he noticed I was awake. His hair was a bit disheveled, and his shirt was untucked, with several buttons undone—completely unlike his usual rigid appearance.

Seeing the concern in his eyes made my heart flutter. It was reassuring to know that he cared about my well-being.

“Madam, are you awake?” Allie’s voice interrupted my thoughts.

Herbert turned his gaze toward me, offering a smile. His eyes were filled with relief.

From his conversation with the doctor, it was clear that he was genuinely concerned about me. But then, his expression shifted, becoming serious. He scolded me, “Do you know that you’re pregnant now? You could have packed your things from that shabby house at any time. Why push yourself to the point of fainting these past few days? Luckily, the delivery workers were kind enough to get you to the hospital and even checked your phone for my number. Otherwise, it could have been much worse. Don’t you understand?”

“Understood,” I whispered softly, lowering my head in response to his reprimand. I knew it was my fault. I had tried to tidy up the house before he came back, but I had overexerted myself. Three days of work had taken a toll on me, and I fainted because of it.

Herbert looked down at his watch, then back up at me.

“I have an important meeting later. I’ll ask Allie to take care of you here. I’ll go first.”

As he turned to leave, I quickly sat up and reached out to grab his arm.

“Did you inform my mother?”
