Bride of Mr. Billion – Chapter 65

Bride of Mr. Billion - Chapter 65

Chapter 65:

“I have a good relationship with Herbert now. I’m very likely to be the future Mrs. Wharton. If you make me unhappy, I’ll have you fired on the spot!”

I couldn’t help but laugh, my amusement evident.

“Haha, your words are hilarious.”

This woman really thought highly of herself. Did she honestly believe that Herbert would marry her after just a little flirtation? How absurd! Even if he did want to marry her, he’d first have to divorce me.

“What are you laughing at?” Emma demanded.

“I’m laughing at how silly you are. What you just said is the funniest joke I’ve heard all year,” I retorted.

Emma, clearly irritated, shot back, “Bella, are you jealous of me? You’re an ugly woman now. Which man would like you? And by the way, don’t you have a baby in your belly? Where’s the father of your child? Why hasn’t he come to marry you? I think your man either has a wife, or he’s a poor man without a car or a house.”

“Will I be jealous of you?” I scoffed.

“Humph…” Before I could finish, I felt my stomach churning. I needed to get to the bathroom, not waste my time on a quarrel with Emma.

I spent a long time in the bathroom, feeling terribly uncomfortable. Once I managed to calm myself, I stood up and looked at my reflection in the mirror.

Sure enough, my face looked pale and unhealthy. I didn’t dare try to cover it with makeup, as it only made me feel more self-conscious.

No wonder Emma had called me an ugly woman. No wonder Herbert showed no interest in me, especially while being involved with someone like her.

I took a deep breath, trying to push the hurt aside.

But then, I thought, “Why should I be upset about those two?” One was my enemy, and the other was merely the father of my child.

I couldn’t let them affect my emotions. Throwing the tissue into the trash, I straightened my back and walked out of the bathroom with renewed determination.

A Third Party’s POV

Everything happening outside the office was visible to Herbert from the president’s office. His face darkened as he turned around, picked up the phone, and dialed secretary Allie.

“Tell the security guard to escort Emma Briden out immediately,” he said, his voice full of annoyance.

Allie hurriedly replied, “Yes.”

“In addition, there’s an authoritative magazine that wants to interview me. Contact them and tell them I’m available this afternoon. I want to be featured in their latest issue,” Herbert said.

Allie hesitated for a moment before asking, “Mr. Wharton, didn’t you say you wouldn’t accept an exclusive interview with the entertainment industry?”

Herbert’s tone was cold as he replied, “I’ve changed my mind. Do I need your approval?”

“Yes, I understand,” Allie said, and then hung up the phone.

After hanging up, Allie noticed that Emma had already left.
