Chapter 63:
Connor replied.
Hearing this, I couldn’t help but frown, just then Connor said, “Mr Wharton, it’s very obvious that you care very much for your wife, seeing her sad actually makes you feel very uncomfortable.
You’re talking a bit too much today,” I glared at Connor, and then he didn’t dare say anything else.
Ding.
We reached the first floor. Before we got out of the lift I said, “Send her a seafood meal in your name.
“Yes,” he replied respectfully.
Bella’s POV:
I took a walk outside the office building. About half an hour later, I returned to my desk.
A plate of seafood risotto sat on my table, accompanied by a text message from Connor telling me it was from him. I didn’t feel hungry. As I sat in front of the desk, looking at the risotto, my appetite was completely gone.
Just then, Joey came over and said, “The boss knows you like seafood, doesn’t he?”
My mood was low. I forced myself to put on a smile and replied, “It was Connor who noticed I hadn’t eaten anything and helped decide.”
“Does everyone around the boss know you like seafood? He must have asked them to order it for you, right?” Joey asked, her curiosity piqued.
Her words triggered a thought. How did Connor know I liked seafood? Only Herbert had seen me with Hank, who had once sent me seafood. Connor hadn’t known my preferences. Could it be…?
I didn’t dare think any further. In fact, Herbert had seen me earlier at the restaurant. But then, he chose to be intimate with Emma right in front of me. Was this deliberate?
But why? Was he doing this just to make me upset?
As the realization hit me, I understood. He was taking revenge on me for using him as a bet, for annoying him. And now, he was using Emma to hurt me. The more I thought about it, the angrier I became.
I had used him as a bet, and I admitted that I was wrong and was ready to apologize to him. But what was this supposed to mean?
Was he trying to cheat on me? “That’s too much! I won’t eat the seafood he sent me,” I said, frustrated.
“You don’t want it? Many other people would love this seafood meal!” Joey teased.
Joey teased, “If you’re willing, take it!”
I pushed the seafood rice toward Joey.
“Someone didn’t order it for me. I won’t eat it.”
Joey pushed the seafood rice back toward me. The aroma of the seafood was strong, something I usually loved. But this time, as the scent hit my nose, my stomach churned. I suddenly stood up, covering my mouth, and ran out of the room.
I hurried into the bathroom, where I began to vomit painfully.
Bella’s POV:
From that day on, my pregnancy symptoms became severe.
No matter what I ate, I would end up vomiting. Even the slightest strong or pungent smell made my nausea worse. I felt so weak and exhausted that I lost weight in just a few days.
This morning, the manager handed me a document and instructed, “This is last month’s financial report. You must deliver it to Mr. Wharton immediately.”
