Chapter 303:
A smile broke across my face as I watched it stick out its tongue and tap the wet ground with its paw in a playful manner. I squinted my eyes for a closer look before activating my wolf vision.
The fear that had clouded my mind began to melt away like candle wax when I saw the last wolf take a few steps toward me before turning around.
Before I could think, it bent its back and turned its head to look at me.
“Hop on, Aurora,” Rue squeaked in excitement. Her high-pitched voice made my head ring.
At first, I hesitated, but when my eyes met its soft hazel gaze, all doubts vanished.
I didn’t even realize when my body lifted off the ground and moved toward the playful wolf’s back. I couldn’t wait for a ride on my mate’s back.
Just as I was about to hold tightly to the fur, the black wolf lunged toward me in a fit of rage, baring its sharp, elongated canines.
Fear wrapped around me like a thick cloak as its smoky hazel eyes darkened to black within seconds. My heart skipped a beat, and I fell to the ground.
My vision blurred, and the last thing I heard was a loud, angry growl before my head fell back, and I slowly succumbed to unconsciousness.
Aurora
The moment my eyes shut, I was transported to another realm. It felt like heaven on earth—a sight more beautiful than anything I had ever seen.
A multitude of trees stretched across the vast space. Some bore edible fruits, while others had none. The gentle whistling of the wind tossed dried leaves in every direction. The melodious songs and creaking sounds of birds and crickets filled the air.
Using my wolf’s hearing, I could make out the sound of clear running water from a distance. My gaze drifted upward to the full moon that hung in the sky, and I let out a loud howl. What? Did I just howl?

I glanced at my body in a hurry, and my eyes widened in shock. I had shifted!
There was no time to question it as I lifted myself from the floor, ignoring the sound of scrunched leaves under my paws. Instinctively, my leg tilted back, and my neck stretched toward the moon. An overwhelming urge to howl consumed me. Giving in to it, I released several spontaneous howls that satisfied the deep craving within me before I stuck my tongue out.
“How does that feel?” Rue’s voice interrupted my moment of exhilaration.
“Great—” I had barely replied when I sensed a presence. With my enhanced hearing, I could make out faint breathing and the rhythmic thumping of hearts belonging to other wolves.
Turning my head sharply, I was stunned to find myself surrounded by three massive wolves. The first had light brown fur and appeared calm and observant. The second was covered in thick black fur with smoky hazel eyes, while the third was the smallest of the three, with light brown fur.
Above all, the wolves exuded an air of danger, yet for some strange reason, I found myself drawn to them like magnets.
Without hesitation, I walked toward them, allowing their intoxicating scent to lead me.
“Mate!” they chorused possessively through the mind link.
“Mate, mate, mate!” Rue chanted, growing wilder with excitement.
