Although he didn’t know the outcome of that test, it was obvious that Kylee had discovered something beforehand.
She had known the truth long ago.
Kylee’s complexion drained of color.
It turned out the Happer family already had more than enough proof in their hands.
At this point, denial would be completely useless.
Her eyes reddened with despair at the realization.
In a rush, she broke down, tears spilling as she confessed, “Yes, I knew the truth before all of you. I… I just couldn’t face it. I couldn’t accept that I was an illegitimate child, and I didn’t know how to tell you. I was selfish. I was terrified that if you found out who I really was, you’d kick me out of the family and abandon me completely. I couldn’t stand the thought of losing all of you, so I buried the secret deep in my heart. I know what I did was wrong.”
Galen looked at her with nothing but contempt. “Of course you couldn’t bear to lose this family, because what you truly couldn’t bear was losing the luxurious life you’re enjoying now. But even being part of the Happer family wasn’t enough for you. You suspected that the father of Carola’s child might be Elwood, and then you shamelessly tried to get close to the Wright family. Unfortunately for you, the Wrights had already conducted a paternity test between you and Elwood. So when that fake report was sent, your family’s scheme was exposed instantly.”
He paused for a moment. “Do you know what that’s called? Karma. Under God’s watchful eye, did you really believe the wicked could prosper forever?”
His words cut through Kylee like a blade.
Her greatest regret now was the greed that had driven her to get close to the Wright family and to ask her father to tamper with the paternity test.
If they had never done that, none of this would have happened.
Her heart twisted with bitter remorse. She wished she could turn back time and strike her foolish past self across the face.
If only she could rewind the clock.

“Don’t worry. I won’t act against you just yet. We’ll wait until the DNA test results for Carola and Belinda are revealed tomorrow, and then we’ll decide how to deal with your family,” Galen said. His words landed like a ticking time bomb, ready to detonate.
He rose from the sofa. “Let’s go.”
And just like that, the Happer family left.
Only Kylee and Baker remained in the living room.
Kylee turned to Baker, her cheeks streaked with tears. “Dad, what are we going to do now?”
At that moment, Baker let out a cold, disdainful laugh. “Don’t worry. Soon enough, they’ll be the ones crying.”
Kylee’s eyes flickered at her father’s words, a quick flash of uncertainty before she fixed him with a questioning stare. “What did you do, Dad?”
Baker let out a low chuckle, shaking his head as though amused by the thought. “Not me. Your mother did something.”
Kylee’s brows arched. “What did she do?”
