“Mom, please rescue me from this nightmare. I’m your daughter. How can you be so cruel to your own child? You’ve proven yourself completely unworthy of motherhood—”
Before Holley’s accusations could reach their venomous conclusion, a powerful hand clamped over her mouth, silencing her as she was hauled away.
Belinda handed the glass of juice Holley had consumed to another waiting bodyguard. “Submit this for laboratory analysis. Find out exactly what toxic substances were in it.”
“Understood,” the bodyguard replied before leaving with the glass.
Once they were alone, Belinda sat beside Kenia on the sofa. “Grandma, please don’t let Holley’s venomous words poison your thoughts or wound your heart.”
“I know. I won’t take her words to heart,” Kenia said, though she could not stop the tears from continuing their steady descent down her lined cheeks.
Seeing Kenia’s profound pain, Belinda felt her own heart twist with sympathetic anguish.
After a brief pause, she asked carefully, “Grandma, will you blame me for what I’ve done to Holley?”
Despite everything, and no matter how vile Holley’s actions had been, she was still Kenia’s flesh and blood.
Once, they had leaned on each other, with no one else in the world to depend on.
But now, Belinda had sent Holley to prison.
Hearing Belinda’s words, Kenia turned toward her and, after a sorrowful sniff, said, “Dear, of course I won’t blame you. From beginning to end, you’ve always been the most innocent victim. How could I ever lay blame on you?”
As she spoke, she reached out to clasp Belinda’s hand, taking a few steadying breaths before continuing. “I’m just heartbroken that my own daughter has grown so vicious. How could she turn so cruel?”
The thought that Holley had even tried to drug Belinda that day devastated Kenia beyond words.

Although her heart ached at the thought of Holley ending up in such a pitiful state, she knew her daughter had only herself to blame.
Belinda slipped an arm around Kenia’s shoulder to console her, saying, “Grandma, I’m here. I’ll stand by you no matter what.”
Kenia’s chest ached with sorrow, tears streaming down her cheeks. With gentle concern, Belinda dabbed her tears away with a tissue.
At that moment, something seemed to stir in Kenia’s memory. She turned her head toward Belinda. “Belinda, you mentioned before that you and Lucas suspected Sarai had returned with ulterior motives. Is that really true, or were you only saying that to deceive Holley?”
Since Kenia had asked directly, Belinda felt she couldn’t hide the truth. She nodded and replied with calm clarity, “It’s true. Lucas found an unknown number that had been in contact with Sarai. And the incident with that addict robbing you and Margie happened far too coincidentally. So we have even more reason to believe Sarai returned with bad intentions.”
After hearing Belinda’s words, Kenia fell into silence once more.
But this time, no tears came.
