More than two decades had passed since those tumultuous times. Could it truly be that Elwood had never married Tasha after all?

Carola fixed her gaze on Kylee.
“Who told you that?”
Kylee said earnestly, “Dad told me himself, and Zaria confirmed it, too. After you and Dad split, he has stayed single all these years.”
Observing Carola’s expression, she continued, “Mom, I’m convinced Dad still loves you. You’ve always been the only one in his heart. Why else would he stay unmarried for so many years, waiting for you? I think there has been some misunderstanding from way back. You two should sit down and have a proper talk. It would be better for both of you.”
Deep down, she wanted Carola to leave Baker and get back together with Elwood.
That way, both Carola and Elwood would feel grateful to Baker, naturally leading to heartfelt efforts to thank and compensate him.
Plus, if Carola divorced, Baker could marry Holley, allowing Kylee’s biological mother to stop being the mistress.
Most crucially, if Carola and Elwood reconciled and wed, Kylee, as their only daughter, would see her status soar.
No one would dare belittle her or gossip about her anymore.

“Why, Mom? Why can’t I have both you and Dad? Why do I have to pick?”
